| #1neldersonNov 22, 2010 19:32:39 | I'm starting this to be a groveling forum, to let those who want to be included in the VT Beta, beg at the people who are making the decisions on who is included in the Beta testing ..... (Obviously make sure to go sign up, and enable your notifications before posting.....) I'll start by saying I would LOVE to be included. After spending a lot of time with MapTools and Masterplan, I would be an excellent resource for suggestions on possible VT integration options. (Mudbunny......come on man, put in a good word for me......) I think I'm related to Trevor......Second cousin twice removed from his mother's side.......that makes me family....Incude ME!!! *This is supposed to be a lighthearted thread....feel free to grovel as much as possible, to let the VCLs and others know your wish to be included in the Beta testing ASAP! |
| #2lokiareNov 22, 2010 22:09:00 | I'm starting this to be a groveling forum, to let those who want to be included in the VT Beta, beg at the people who are making the decisions on who is included in the Beta testing ..... I promise not to say anything negative... "It's not as ugly as my battle mat!" |
| #3zerozombieNov 22, 2010 22:12:37 | My wife just left me. My corn wont grow. My three-legged dog just died and my tractor-pulling truck done got stuck in a ditch. Oh baby give me the VT. Amen. Been playing 4e from day 1. Used almost every tool out there due to the lack of VTT. PLEASE let me in! P.S. that wretched woman even took my dice! |
| #4Ramius613Nov 22, 2010 22:28:06 | Please let me in. I've got cookies. ![]() See! Ramius |
| #5GMforPowergamersNov 22, 2010 22:49:12 | I really hope that I can get in on this beta test... I have more then 15 years of D&D GMing, and I only tried to do so online once before (a failed play by post)... so i bring the eyes of someone who wants to learn how to play online, but lots of experence with the game itself... |
| #6BlakeyNov 23, 2010 4:08:04 | /best Donkey (Shrek) impression: "Pick me! Pick me! Pick me! Me! me!" Reasons to pick me: I've been playing D&D for 30+ years now, through every incarnation. I run a weekly game every Wednesday night which has been going for about 10+ years now. We have 1 player 250 miles away who logs in using MapTool and Skype, every week. The rest of us sit around a table playing using MapTool on our laptops. We're in the UK so there is a good opportunity to test out how things work outside the US. Fingers crossed! Blakey |
| #7DMapleNov 23, 2010 4:17:57 | I'll volunteer myself as the Devil's Advocate of Beta testers, I promise pretty much everything I say will be critical, but it will be honest. Previous experience running a campaign Fantasy Grounds, and with one player in our regular game using Skype for months, plus experience with other 4e electronic tools. Also in the UK. Admittedly I've cancelled my autorenew, and my account expires in May, but perhaps you can win me over. |
| #8schweetguyNov 23, 2010 4:42:13 | Because I said please... PLEASE! |
| #9MarkAtkinsonNov 23, 2010 4:51:06 | Because my sub expires in two weeks ![]() |
| #10dnddanrangerNov 23, 2010 7:57:46 | I would love to take part in the beta test and I see myself and my gameing group as a perfect test bed to try your new system. |
| #11forsaken1111Nov 23, 2010 9:04:45 | I have a group of 5 experienced players who play online weekly and a brand new campaign starting soon. Give me a chance and I'll test this thing for you. |
| #12dracomax1981Nov 23, 2010 9:33:28 | I swear, by the Hand and eye of Vecna, that if I am admitted into the the beta, No undead will visit themselves upon your office.... |
| #13jouctasNov 23, 2010 10:09:36 | *waves hand in Jedi fashion* Me and my players are the droids you are looking for. You will give us beta invites. |
| #14tufratNov 23, 2010 12:17:23 | If i were to suggest a certain amount of beer might be made available to someone who might know how to invite me to the beta... Who would that be, and how many kegs might he or she want? |
| #15corruptblitzNov 23, 2010 15:06:13 | I would greatly appreciate an invite. ![]() |
| #16totemenschNov 23, 2010 16:17:02 | I wouldn't mind an invite, though due to work schedule the only days I'd probably be able to get in a game would Thursday and Saturday, Friday is my ftf game, but I have lots of time at work to look at it solo. Joe |
| #17TDarienNov 23, 2010 17:09:02 | Ooh ooh! Me! Pick me! Pick me! *jumps up and down and waves arms in the air* |

| #33tfelts147Nov 30, 2010 16:16:40 | It seems like if you post in this thread you get invited...invite me please I've been a faithful DDI subscriber from the beginning! |
| #34illcom94Nov 30, 2010 16:41:34 | I would love to be in the beta. I've also been a subscriber since the beginning. Been playing since AD&D 2nd Ed. |
| #35TDarienNov 30, 2010 16:47:31 | I wish I would have known about the sign-up page. I've seen no reference to it before this thread. Still waiting on my invite |
| #36MichielflNov 30, 2010 17:24:26 | I'm a fantasy grounds user. But I would love to put the VT through it's paces, give hints and search for them nasty bugs. An invite would be great. |
| #37lokiareNov 30, 2010 17:25:44 | Got an invite... Anyone want to play? |
| #38neldersonNov 30, 2010 17:32:15 | Holy S%*# it worked!!!!! I received my invite last evening, and played a little one-shot session with some dude at like 4am EST. It has been very interesting........... The key is to grovel as much as possible to any/all of the staff that listens..... GROVEL *Nelderson bows down and kisses the nice person whom let this lone adventurer into the fray of online awesomeness...... Mudbunny - You're my favorite Canadian.......I can forgive the fact that you are Canadian, because I am in the BETA!!!!! |
| #39JhariiNov 30, 2010 17:46:33 | I'm not below grovelling, but I'm not quite there yet. But it would be nice to get some actual functionality out of the utilities, being a DM and all. Right now, DDI is pretty much glorified database access and decent magazines... |
| #40mforrestNov 30, 2010 17:47:50 | I too would love to join in on the Beta testing fun! Oh please great wonderful powerful and amazing WotC employees, I DM a weekly game but would really like a chance to play with all the new player options you have created!![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

| #42rofellos25Nov 30, 2010 19:44:47 | I am willing to give up my first born for a chance to see what the VT has to offer so far. She is dear to me, but i've been playing D&D since WAY before she was born. AND it would be a great birthday present!!! |
| #43christianjohnsonNov 30, 2010 23:44:35 | Sure would be nice to get an invite to VTT. My group might respond favorably to seeing it in action. |
| #44Dane_McArdyDec 01, 2010 10:29:07 | Wow, non DDi getting into the Beta before Long term DDi members. Have to say, that's not only an insult to people that have been DDi members since the begining, but comes across as a bit of lie. Sure they never said that Non ddi members couldn't get in the beta, but they said the process would be friends and family first, then DDi subscribers. And it seems a lot of the second wave of invites are going to a lot of people that have been long time critcs of WoTC. Which makes it seem like they are getting invited to shut them up. Well, whatever, thanks WoTC, for rewarding bad behavior, and insulting people who have been DDi members by inviting in people who have never been DDi members. And before any of you even suggest it's sour grapes, it's not. |
| #45DMapleDec 01, 2010 10:32:04 | Got an invite... Anyone want to play? Remind me why we are paying for Insider status again? |
| #46DMapleDec 01, 2010 10:36:20 | Have to say, that's not only an insult to people that have been DDi members since the begining, but comes across as a bit of lie. Sure they never said that Non ddi members couldn't get in the beta, but they said the process would be friends and family first, then DDi subscribers. Remember: It's not a lie it's a change of plan. WotC don't lie, they are misinterpreted, they are taken out of context, or they have unavoidable/unforeseen changes in strategy. And it seems a lot of the second wave of invites are going to a lot of people that have been long time critcs of WoTC. Which makes it seem like they are getting invited to shut them up. Besides perhaps these people have married into WotC recently and are friends and family? |
| #47Dane_McArdyDec 01, 2010 10:36:57 | Got an invite... Anyone want to play? To be third or last or maybe never. |
| #48karteshDec 01, 2010 10:51:07 | Remind me why we are paying for Insider status again? Let's see, i think the word was "soon". To be honest, i don't know what the criteria are on which they choose to invite you, but I guess it depends very much on what they think the system can handle at this moment. I whouldn't mind getting an invitation either, but that is very much out of curiosity. The VTT is still a beta-tool and I doubt it offers much, other tools out there don't offer. So lets hope the feedback they get is atleast productive enough to make this tool worth the subscribtion it will most likely require. |
| #49Dane_McArdyDec 01, 2010 11:06:00 | Have to say, that's not only an insult to people that have been DDi members since the begining, but comes across as a bit of lie. Sure they never said that Non ddi members couldn't get in the beta, but they said the process would be friends and family first, then DDi subscribers. I didn't say this was a lie, only comes across as a bit of a lie. But most of the things people claim they lied about, weren't lies. I can't even say this was a lie, as they never said that non-DDi members wouldn't be invited. They just made it clear it would be Friends and Family first, then from DDi subscribers. Leaving out that non DDi members might also be invited makes it seem like they lied. I just think it's insulting to people that have been members since the begining. It gives the impression that who gets in and who doesn't isn't random, but picked for reasons we don't know, which makes it seem like favortism or being rewarded. But it seems like the people who should be rewarded for being long term customers are not being rewarded. |
| #50totemenschDec 01, 2010 11:35:43 | Have to say, that's not only an insult to people that have been DDi members since the begining, but comes across as a bit of lie. Sure they never said that Non ddi members couldn't get in the beta, but they said the process would be friends and family first, then DDi subscribers. I believe it actually indicated that ddi members would have preference but that non-ddi members would receive invites. I'll have to go find it. |
| #51Dane_McArdyDec 01, 2010 11:46:34 |
I certainly think there are DDi members far more worthy (not me per say) of being invited that haven't been, over some non DDi people that have been invited. It stinks to think that WoTC as rewarded bad behavior in some strange attempt to pacify a angry posters. Because it certainly seems like people are being hand picked over randomly picked. And at this point, I'm going to be hard pressed to believe WoTC if they come and say who gets picked and who doesn't is completely random. If anything makes me lose respect for a company, that's one of the top things on my list. |
| #52temujin23Dec 01, 2010 14:02:29 | Please for the love of god send me an invite This is EXACTLY what I've been waiting for!Been playing D&D since 2nd Edition. My yearly sub lapsed due to no VTT and I continue to wait until it has been released or I'm in the beta. |

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house, Everyone was pining to be in the VT BETA, even the Rouse! I had just settled down for a long winter's snooze, And I fell outa' bed when I heward the news! Then what to my wondering eyes should appear, But the VT code in my inbox, signed by a Rouseketeer. The servers faster than eagles they flew, New York, Madison, Washington, Spain, I could hook up all the crew. Finally a VT by WotC, This would be the Christmas I'd love the most! Pllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaasssssssssssssssssssse! -Been playing since basic. -Bought almost every 4E book. -Been a subscriber since the beginning. -Volunteered at many game stores in many states, two separate countries. -Ran Encounters in many places. -Ran DDM Tournaments in many places. | #60neldersonDec 07, 2010 23:27:06 | This was posted a couple of days ago, on the beta forums....... This is nowhere close to a guarantee......however, you should probably step up the groveling to a whole new level....... Make sure to sign up, AND enable notifications from Wizards in you account settings. If you haven't already, tell friends to apply to get in. We may open up another wave in the next week or 2 |
| #61mondragonDec 08, 2010 0:18:53 | Time to ask for an invitation again. ![]() |
| #62frothsofDec 08, 2010 6:09:56 | looks like there will be another wave within the next couple of weeks, i have def been asking for more testers |
| #63saitirDec 08, 2010 7:34:33 | FWIW, I'm looking to start a new campaign soon. My original idea was to get started in the new year, using Maptools and Ventrillo. However, I'd be more than happy make it a long term, take the pain of beta and missing features, test! It seems like a generally better approach than most to find players, although I'd be looking for regulars to integrate backgrounds into the unflolding storyline. Is there much by way of 'regular players to games' going on on the VTT right now? The big issue is that I'll be using my own campaign world, While I made alot of concessions to 4e (as I have to make it work various rule systems since 2nd Ed), there are still a few quirks that require a little player co-operation to work! |
| #64MockDec 08, 2010 18:01:53 | So, a question. As a beta tester, do you get seats for people (like, say, your gaming group) to join, or do I have to play with the other beta testers? Because I like you all very much, but I run for one group, and play in another, and that's pretty much the limit of my willingness to try new things. If the answer is "play with other testers," that's cool...I will take a look when the VT goes to general release. |
| #65celloshaneDec 08, 2010 18:13:19 | @Mock, every answer I've seen to that so far states that you'll play with the other beta testers. |
| #66neldersonDec 08, 2010 18:26:48 |
Yup....... But it's not all that bad......we can act like your gaming group...... |
| #67MockDec 08, 2010 18:29:31 |
Heh. I'm not in the beta anyway, I was just curious. Call it shyness, but gaming of any kind with Random Other People is not how I roll (I don't do online video gaming like WoW or multiplayer shooters or anything like that, either). |
| #68neldersonDec 08, 2010 18:51:26 |
It's ok....we'll break you in gently........ ...and then we'll SMASH!!!! |
| #69frothsofDec 08, 2010 21:22:29 | mock im sad to hear that, it is fun and would be fun to play w you sometime |
| #70natural20usernameDec 08, 2010 22:11:15 | Don't companies like to test their products on inexperienced people too? I've been playing for less than 2 years now, and have never played a game of dnd over the web! Why not you see if I can make sense of it?...please? |
| #71MockDec 09, 2010 12:17:23 | mock im sad to hear that, it is fun and would be fun to play w you sometime Well, as I mentioned in the VT/RPTools thread, I did just get an invite. It would be rude to say "No thanks," and to adequately compare it to the tool I already use it will be useful to actually see the thing. So i guess I'm in. |
| #72JhariiDec 09, 2010 12:28:59 | Same here, Mock. It looks like a new batch of invites went out around 1:00pm today. Thanks, Wizards! And we'll see the lot of you in game. ![]() |
| #73saitirDec 09, 2010 12:36:51 | Well for what it's worth, 24 hours after posting my intentions for the VT, I've got my invite to the beta! |

| #85davoriousDec 12, 2010 20:49:17 | I would also like to be added. I have been playing for 30 years and have knowledge compiled from red book through 4th edition. Have used several VTT in addition to both playing and running games. |
| #86JerboaTheFearedDec 14, 2010 7:27:27 | I'm starting this to be a groveling forum, to let those who want to be included in the VT Beta, beg at the people who are making the decisions on who is included in the Beta testing ..... If I'm allowed in the beta, I'll give up my fifth-born child. (Sorry, the first four are already spoken for! :D ) |
| #87tsrdungeonmasterDec 15, 2010 18:34:15 | As a member of a gaming guild of about a dozen that: 1) Started playing D&D with the ORIGINAL three book edition (Might and Magic, etc) 2) Have played almost every MMO that has come out (some still being played) 3) Have had a few members move away due to life events 4) Have all members in technologically based careers I would humbly request an invitation to beta test so I can report back to our gaming guild that the "sooner" part of we'll-play-D&D-again-sooner-or-later may come to pass after all! I also admit to having been am original DDi subscriber who cancelled when it looked like the VTT was a dead project. |
| #88Iceman2321Dec 17, 2010 17:05:51 | Never let my DDI subscription lapse. My wife will vouch that I don't stop talking DND. The local DND store wants to put my on their payroll for how much I talk them up (the DND stuff of course). Love 4e! Did I mention it's my birthday? Make my day WOTC! Please! |
| #89guildanDec 18, 2010 1:26:46 | Just had a baby, can't meet with my friends to play D&D in person anymore, and really want to try out the beta for the VT. It's not my birthday, so I can't beat the guy above me . |
| #90blkdrgn1906Dec 18, 2010 19:47:46 | Putting in my first request for passes. I will use as many as I can get between now and when school starts back :-) Gotta love winter break!!! |
| #91Iceman2321Dec 18, 2010 23:13:35 | Well wizards , you've always been there for me in the past. This time its a vacation at the in-laws for three weeks. Save me and give me something to distract me, send me an invite! Please! |
| #92gforce3554Dec 19, 2010 14:19:32 | Its a bit confusing since they let me in the D&D insider group am I eligable for the VT gaming? I haven't recieved any email on where to download this. Do they let anyone in the group even if they are not eligable to be testers? Its kind of a tease if they do this. I hope the good ppl of VT gaming testers could send me the e-mail if i'm in or consider me as a tester. it would add great joy this coming holiday season. |

| #94gforce3554Dec 21, 2010 10:12:58 | How do you tell if you have been invited? |
| #95totemenschDec 21, 2010 10:20:50 | Aside from getting an email inviting you, the easiest way is to click home above and the check under my groups to see if the ddi vt beta group is present. I for one found out about the group a day or two before I received my email. Joe |
| #965inDec 21, 2010 19:19:42 | I totally want in the beta! Simply put, I have a group of friends from all over the state and we get together to play during the summer. We're always sad to put the game on hold once college starts back up again. I want an opportunity to help shape this into something we can use to keep our game going year round! |

We have more female players than males (married couples, with my sister tipping the scales in favor of the ladies). We are in that o so sweet 20-30 age demographic! (Oooooo Aaaaaah!) We use a 47" LCD television with a luidia E-beam setup for a battle mat already. We are odd birds. We will provide insightful feedback...perhaps some gibberish as well! |
