Oct 26, 2008 10:12:26 First of all why can't I post in the "Dragon and Dungeon Article Discussion" Forum. I just recently purchased a subscription to D&D insider and still can't post in this forum.

I would like to discuss aspects of the SoW adventure path with other DM's

Which brings me to my second question.....

Is there or can there be a Forum dedicated specifically to the Scales of War Adventure path? It would be nice to discuus the adventure path with other DM's without having to sort through all of the other articles in Dungeon & Dragon magazine.

Oct 26, 2008 10:42:54 Only VCLs, mods, and other such people with additional powers can create new topics in that forum so as to limit the number of topics created per article to only one.

Oct 27, 2008 0:12:23 As Ranadiel stated, only the staff can create threads in that particular forum. There will be a thread created for each individual article in the Article Discussion Forum, and you can(and are encouraged to) reply to any of those threads, with anything you want to say about that article.

If you wish to create your own thread for the entire campaign, you can(and are encouraged to!) do so here, in the Dungeon/Dragon Discussion.

Well a dedicated forum for the AP seems like a good plan to me, though its impossible to make it DM only.

As it is there are discussions all over the place in this area of the forums for the AP making it hard for a new person to track stuff down.

PLEASE..... A forum solely dedicated to an entire AP would be the least that could be done for something so in-depth and complicated. Individual threads about entire modules are not good enough.

It would be an EXTREMELY benificial aid for DM's and players looking for ways to expand on Scales of War, Fill in the many gaps, and flesh the Path out into something greater then it already is.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE. Sound off if you agree!!!

There is nothing stopping people from doing as you did and starting a thread about a particular subject.

That being said, if there is enough call for an AP-specific forum, and there are the volume of topics to make such a forum worthwhile, it is something that the CM staff will look into.

Yes I believe there is. The problem now is that my thread will eventually get buried amongst the hundreds of other threads in this forum that are NOT related to SoW. And soon it will never get seen again. Unless I annoying keep bumping it, like so many people do.

We are up to 4 mods now. And soon there will be so much information being passed about them, with no clear way to isolate and organize the ideas.

Like a said, running an AP is a complicated and epic endeavor. It would be an extremely helpful resource to consolidate all the information being passed in one dedicated forum. Especially as it grows to more and more mods.

1 - There are not 4 mods. The *only* mods on the WotC forums are the ORCS. Myself (DDI SVCL) and WolfStar76, AsmodeusLore and Cart_Sprinter (My DDI News Guides) are not mods. We do not have any influence over moderation or anything like that. Edit to add - I realize that you may not have implied this, but I wanted to get this out. There are enough people who think that we , the VCLs and NGs, have some sort of effect on moderation or application of the CoC that I felt it necessary to comment on your comment.

2 - There is very little behind-the-scenes talk between my NGs and myself. Any discussions we have (except for work on contests, etc) we do out here in the open, where people can provide their input or suggestions.

3 - If you would like to make sure that your trhead is easy to find, why not add a tag to the subject line. Use [SoW] and everyone would be able to find it with a fairly trivial search. As for things disappearing off the front page, that will happen no matter where discussions are held. Having it in its own SoW forum would only make it slower to disappear off the front page.

4 - As I said before, I don't currently see a need for a SoW forum. I simply don't see there being a large enough base of users willing to talk about it. That being said, if enough people throw their support for something like that, and give me reasons why a forum like that would be useful and should be created, I will gladly put forward the suggestion to Solice for her to bring up with the people higher up in CM. But, as I said, "Because it would be useful" will not work. Give good arguments and reasons why it would be useful.

The best example I think of is the forums on Paizo. The forum dedicated solely to Shackled City was a tremendous resource.

Forgive me but I have not even checked there to see if they had something.

I would like to see if anyone agrees with me.

A forum dedicated solely to SoW would make sure that all the discussions about SoW would be in one place and easily found as every thread would be about SoW or something related. This would be a good resource for DMs looking for more informations on how to run the adventure path. With the number of modules to the adventure path increasing over the next few months, the number of threads about SoW will also increase, thus regrouping them in their own forum would avoid SoW threads to invade the general forum and drown out other threads about other topics.

It would also cut down on the number of double or triple threads on the same topic as people would be more likely to find the initial thread dealing with a topic as it won't disappear off the front page as soon, nor would it be buried among a lot of other, non-SoW threads.

Furthermore, a SoW forum would indicate clearly to anybody that there will be spoilers about the SoW adventure path in the threads posted there, so those that don't want to be spoiled will be clearly warned and not accidentally stumble on a spoiling thread in the general forum. It would also prevent posters from having to label each thread with something that would look like:

[SoW] [LMoK] [SPOILERS!] Thread Title Here

Which makes for very clunky thread titles and a messy forum look.

Finally, having a dedicated SoW forum would make sure that people who run the adventure path, say, only a year from now or even later will still have access to all the discussions that were taking place before, even if SoW is then no longer the hottest topic on the forums.

Hmm ... Anything else?

Oct 30, 2008 14:32:13 I suggest going to Paizo and looking at how many posts are still being placed in a Particular Adventure Path Forum as to an indictaor of the amount of support that would be forth comming.

Although the future users may not be that many because of the ease that back issues of E-zines could possibly be found..so in 13 months new DM may not need to find posts about SOW..because they can't find the Moduals.

Oct 30, 2008 14:54:57 Add me as one in favor of a Scales of War sub-forum. Star Wars Saga's Dawn of Defiance has a sub-forum. And I bet that gets played way less than a D&D adventure path. Nothing against Dawn of Defiance - I love it! Just seems like Scales of War is potentially bigger.

Nov 04, 2008 0:47:17 I support a place for Scales of War. I hope that I will get to play the adventure path at some point. I don't know how fleshed out the sections are in Dragon as I would like to play them.

Wish RPGA could offer it as a single time playthrough for a player. The people I play with would probably be willing to play it then. Hope everyone playing or running the adventure are enjoying it.

There will be a singular forum, so if there are DMs talking about plot, you will need to put SPOILER in the subject lines.
