My friends have somehow tricked me into making a Dragonlance campaign and now I'm kinda stuck. I don't have time for reading through all the novels again just to check what can and can't be played. Because they are the only books I remember decently well, I've decided to set the campaign in the Age of Despair (I hope I'm right, but what I want to do is play the era that the chronicles are about).

My questions are:
Did all Gods leave Krynn?
Can druids still be played?
Are healing potions existant on Krynn?

Thanks a lot.

Yes, though they were still around in the background.  They didn't have clerics or anything like that.

Can druids still be played?

If you have druids drawing power from the gods, then they can be played at the same times that clerics are playable.

If you're playing 4e, you might say that druids draw their primal magic directly from the world, so they might be more playable in eras where divine magic is not available.  Primal magic may or may not be connected to DL's nature gods.  I tend to look at it as indirectly tied to the gods.

Are healing potions existant on Krynn?

Sure thing.  Many are blue in color, as they come from Mishakal.

I'd say throw out everything after the beginning of the War of the Lance. Including the Heroes of the Lance, if you want. Its not like the 5th Age was anything but a horrible Arthurian-wannabe pastiche.

Did all Gods leave Krynn? I'm maybe getting my Ages mixed up but, the Gods never really leave Krynn. One time they settle into the background and allow mortals to make more of their own choices and another time the world gets literally stolen from them. People still worshipped during the Age of Despair they just tended to keep it to themselves for a variety of reasons.

Can druids still be played? Heck yes.

Are healing potions existant on Krynn? Yes but, they'd be quite a bit rarer. With HP now no longer tied entirely to your body though (some of them are meant to represent willpower and resolve you could easily house rule another second wind for people or encourage them to take some of the healing feats and powers that don't require surges to be spent.
