Once 4E is released, I'm thinking of running an Age of Mortals campaign set after the Dark Disciple trilogy, but I've stumbled across a bit of a problem for me on an aesthetic level.

I refuse to have a goddess named Mina in any pantheon I run. I mean, it just opens the door to so many jokes. What's next? Nuitari and Hiddekul's love child, Jeffy?

Bleh! Dieties should have vaguely hard to pronounce names whose utterance makes you feel like just maybe you should be looking over your shoulder for the candy man. Takhisis. Chemosh. Mishakal. These are names ascribed to the unknowable. Mina? Not so much.

I know, I know, I can rename her or ignore her entirely, and I no longer have a problem... but this board is so lonely I thought I'd throw SOMETHING out there to be discussed.

Well, since she doesn't have any clerics and acts on a very personal level, you may never use her at all. Mina is a perfectly fine name, but if you want to go with "Lady of Sorrows" or "Maiden of Tears" or some such thing, that would work.

Cheers,
Cam

Well, as an attempt at polarizing the board in order to drum up some discussion, it failed. Ah well, such is life.

Thanks for the input, Cam.

What it didn't fail at was spoiling some of the book for me. I didn't even open the thread, I simply saw the thread title and knew she would ascend.
