| #1MulhullJul 26, 2007 19:27:15 | Is there anything that says specifically what is under the armor of a death knight? I think it depends on the death knight, Lord Soth's death knight followers were visible skeletons within the armor, but someone told me Soth himself with his red eyes under his visor was a transparent, immaterial specter within it. But.........if this were the case how would he be able to take off his helmet and drink from the lake of sounds in Spectre of the Black Rose? I'm guessing the most likely answer is that he is a corpse under his armor, almost just as he looks on the Lord Soth heroes book, just his skin is pale grey, greyish purple, and dead of course, and he doesn't breathe, and his body though dead doesn't rot, but does emit it's cold aura. BTW, the reason Soth can't end his curse, he can't even commit suicide, because if he did he'd reappear on his throne, if you destroyed the throne, would the throne reappear with him on it, destroyed the keep, and it reappears with the throne with him on it, or he'd simply reappears somewhere else. |

Soth's followers were skeletal warriors, not death knights. Soth himself looked like a walking corpse, as seen on the cover of Dragonlance Adventures. ![]() |

That's not how he looks on the Knight of the Black Rose book novel though. And how do you know that's him on the cover of Dragonlance adventures? |

Plus I might have read that in an art book somewhere. Tracey Hickman and Margret Weis, the creators of Dragonlance (and by extension Lord Soth) refuse to acknowledge Soth's time in Ravenloft at all, by and it is ignored in DragonLance. It's up to the individual whether Soth went or not. It works out both ways. |

WotC can determine what happens in official products all they like, just like fans can decide for themselves what they hold to be true. Just because a company says one thing, that doesn't mean that the fans are obliged to follow it. ;) |

While that may be true, and I am quite sure that on that cover he is wearing his helm, this does not mean that he did not cover up that corpse face of his. In most representations of Soth he is wearing a helm, and he even is wearing gauntlets, but in this representation it does show what is beneath. |
| #10zombiegleemaxJul 28, 2007 8:14:32 | Lord Soth is normally drawn in full armor w/helm & gauntlets on. So all you see of him is the visor slit with his two red glowing eyes. You can tell that that is indeed Soth in the picture because of the Knight of the Rose engraving on the breastplate the creature is wearing, also by the beady red eyes. I'm pretty sure we get a description of Lord Soth without his full armor on in DoSP when we're privy to Highlord Kitiara's planning at Dagaard Keep. From that description I've always assumed the creature on the cover is Lord Soth. |
| #11cam_banksJul 28, 2007 9:24:04 | Death knights vary in what actually remains behind, apparently. Their armor is as much a part of their undead body as their original body, in some cases, and thus depending on how things end up you might actually just have the armor (with an animating spirit within). Under his armor, Soth is a burned corpse. Under Ausric Krell's armor, Krell isn't anything. ![]() Cheers, Cam |
| #12zombiegleemaxJul 28, 2007 9:43:25 | Maybe Soth just took off his helm. |
