So I just recently got this set and a second batch of order cards.  The four other prior sets I didn't have too much trouble adding and deleating order cards to get the 30 I wanted to stick with.  This one has been tough though.  I like to keep my sets pure for the time being, so only Blood of Gruumsh creatures/order cards.  Although I did add a few custom creatures to my other sets from cromaticdragon on boardgamegeek.  Those will be for another post though.  Here is what I have for BOG so far.

Order cards

Defiant Stance - 2
Savage Demise - 2
Unexpected Resistance - 2
Change of Plans - 2
Cure Serious Wounds - 2
Furious Bellow - 2
Fury of Gruumsh - 2
Charge - 2
Hacking Frenzy - 2
Hurl Rock - 2
Overseers Whip - 2
Slice - 2
Stomp - 2
Victorius Surge - 2
Vorpal Sword - 2

I actually like the creature mix pretty much as is.  The one exception is that I thought I would drop the Owlbear and add another Wereboar.  Trading 20 hp and gaining the deathstrike and Orc characteristic seemed worth it.  I like the Owlbear miniature, but it just doesn't seem that good playwise.

I left Fury of Gruumsh in even though I am a little wary about how it will play.  I was almost going to trade it out for the 2 Tactical Block.  While I mention Tactical Block, can someone explain the benefit it has of "untapping your creature"?  It already prevented the damage so I didn't understand.

Also while I am asking, can you tell me how Savage Demise works?  Someone attacks you and you play it, so it goes on the stack.  So then before you are dealt damage you strike back, and then does YOUR creature get destroyed?  So you play it if you know you are going to die anyway and get one last strike in?  Would you get two attacks if you played this on a dying Boar?  One attack for Savage Demise, and then another for its Death Strike ability?

Thanks again in advance for the help.

Add tough as nails from the goblins set to mitigate half the damage from fury of Gruumsh. Magic short sword is nice too because then you can make super bezerkers that can't be cowered and just kill everything using multiple charges. With two sets I would recommend

4 charge
4 hacking frenzy
2 bone chilling rally cry

4 defiant stance
2 tough as nails

4 fury of Gruumsh
2 magic short sword

2 bezerkers
Etc...

Savage demise plus deathstrike works as you describe. You get two attacks then die.

Problem is those cards are already in use in my other sets.  I know it won't be the best build possible, but for now I wanted to avoid mixing sets, so keep this one 100% Blood of Gruumsh.  I bought the set and another set of order cards, so I have that to work with.  When I decide on the right creature mix I'll buy more of the ones I need.

I do agree that your combos would work awesome though.

Had one game where a bezerker with tough as nails and two furies killed 4 goblin cutters, one goblin archer, and a goblin champion in one turn

Theres 2 directions you can go: beast or orc.

I would go orc if you're not going to get the wisdom cards out of the other sets.

So 4 drudge, 4 archer, 2 bezerker, 2 chieftan
If you can use snig the axe then you can really pump your leadership easily because you will almost always get good value out of deploying your chieftan at the beginning of the game.

strength 10
4 charge
4 hacking frenzy (stupidly good card)
2 bone chilling rally cry (pump leadership more)

con 16
4 tactical block
2 furious bellow
4 defiant stance
2 stomp
4 victorious surge (heal your gruumsh fury)

any 4
4 fury of gruumsh

Very cool build.  Thanks for the great ideas.  I'll have to keep this one in mind.  A little on the boring side with little creature/card variety, but I can see how it would be extremely effective.

As I only play friendly games I am willing to cut down a little on effectiveness of a build to keep it more interesting/entertaining.

I guess going more the beast route might be cool.  I can modify it a little to get this:

Order cards

Beastmaster - 2
Defiant Stance - 2
Savage Demise - 2
Unexpected Resistance - 2
Change of Plans - 2
Cure Serious Wounds - 2
Furious Bellow - 2
Charge - 2
Hacking Frenzy - 2
Hurl Rock - 2
Overseers Whip - 2
Slice - 2
Stomp - 2
Tactical Block - 2
Victorius Surge - 2
Vorpal Sword - 2

Creatures

Orc Drudge - 2
Orc Archer - 2
Boar - 2
Orc Druid - 2
Wereboar - 2
Orc Chieftain - 1
Ogre  - 1

Still 32 order cards though.  Which two to cut???  Anyone else have thoughts?
