| #1Style75Mar 06, 2013 14:34:20 | In your podcast about Blood of Gruumsh, you say that BoG is the first DC sets that will use all new sculpts. While that's not exactly a proncouncement that new sets are coming, it's a very strong hint. I think the gaming public needs to know that there will be more DC, and they should know soon. I think timing is critical. I know a number of people who are really on the fence about this game. They want to buy in, but aren't willing to do so until they know that WotC is going to support it. If the player base is not expanding and there is no organised play program, it will probably begin contracting as people move on to other games and it'll be harder to grow the game in the future. So please make some sort of official announcement about the next set. You don't have to say what it will be, just that more will be coming. End the speculation. |
| #2truthspeakerMar 06, 2013 22:01:08 | I heard that Wizards of the Coast has a contract with the artists who make the miniatures. If WotC stops making new sets, then the artists will be free to find new companies to work with. Because of this WotC is most likely to continue making Dungeon Command games. While this explaination doesn't make any sense to me, it should be noted that legal and financial issues often are not logical. My best guess is that within two years a new Dungeon Command set will come out. I would also guess that WotC believes that they can sell more games by not announcing new releases. They probably think that if people think a new set is going to come out in a few months, then they would save their money for a set that they will like more. As things stand no one knows when a given Dungeon Command warband will run. You never know when the price could skyrocket. The reality is that I don't know wheather to trust my source on this or not. And my second paragraph is purely me speculating. I am trying to see through fog that is thicker than pea soup. So who could blame me if I don't see an abonimable snow monster. |
| #3TimothyPrayApr 04, 2013 9:40:04 | I too caught that comment about Blood of Gruumsh being the "first" set with all new sculpts. There is also the "first" CAD designed mini from D&D in that set. I'm really hopeful about Dungeon Command. I love it. Some news, now, would be nice. Let's have some! |
| #4thereisnotryApr 04, 2013 11:37:49 | I agree. I can't imagine how it would hurt WotC's business in the slightest if they would tell us (for example) that a new set is in the works and is expected to be released in 2013 (or 2014, or whenever). I'm a leader at my place of work, and so much of leadership keeps coming back to communication-communication-communication. People perform much better when they're kept in the loop, at least to a degree. Increased communication is almost always one of the simplest and most effective ways to improve an organization. We the players would greatly appreciate a little bit of communication from someone in the know at WotC. It wouldn't hurt WotC, and it would greatly help the growth of the game. |
| #5herbstarApr 05, 2013 6:12:54 | Every week I try to find some news and I am really getting frustrated. For MTG we allready know the name of the sets until may 2014 ... I know that they first want to recieve the sellers data but the product was going so good. I had to wait 4 weeks after release to get the BoG set in germany which shows that DC rises strongly in popularity. At least they could tell us the working title of the product. Usually these titles are abstract enough to do not tell something at all. This game is so good they would be really stupid if they do not see the potential. Easy to learn, hard to master, exactly what the people want. |
| #6jsanner2Apr 06, 2013 15:39:38 | Nothing whatsoever in the April "In the Works" column. Dungeon Command is done. Fun while it lasted, though. |
| #7thereisnotryApr 06, 2013 16:55:30 | I just spoke with Customer Service on the phone (with Matt, a really helpful guy), asking if he could tell me whether or not there were plans to produce further DC sets. He had no answer for me at this time, but urged me to send a communication to Customer Support. Here is the note I sent. I'd invite the rest of you to send a similar (and respectful!) note: I am an avid Dungeon Command player. I thoroughly enjoy the innovative and deep gameplay, and I think this game has excellent potential for the future. I play it with my young children (ages 6,8,9), and I also play it with my adult friends, and they all absolutely love it!We, the players on the Dungeon Command forums (on the Wizards.com site), would really like to receive some communication--even a short communication--indicating whether or not Wizards plans to produce further sets of Dungeon Command. We really want the game to continue, and we will be happy to endure the wait if there will be a significant production delay. But we just want to know whether the game will continue to be produced or not. The sooner we know, the better. So please--whatever the decision is, or even if that decision is still in process--have an employee take five minutes to make a short post on the Dungeon Command forums and let us know the current and future status of our beloved game. If you're inclined, feel free to read this thread, which I think adequately summarizes the value of this simple request:community.wizards.com/go/thread/view/758....Thank you very much!

| #8Style75Apr 07, 2013 9:01:28 | Nothing whatsoever in the April "In the Works" column. Dungeon Command is done. Fun while it lasted, though. I'm not ready to write it off yet, but the lack of information is very bad news. There has been nothing but silence on this issue, not even a hint of something, and that is a bad sign. Still, there's a small measure of hope until it's officially declared dead.... |
| #42weristhansiJun 14, 2013 16:32:53 | Hi there, any news at the Origins Gamefair? Still really hoping for new factions!! *fingers-crossed* Cheers Hansi |
| #43hypnotoadJun 16, 2013 23:30:12 | Yeah, I would love to hear if anyone had any news from Origins. After all, they did promise us "exciting things we have planned for board games and miniatures" :D I've been baffled by Wizards' radio silence on ALL products for most of this year. Honestly, go look at upcoming products for 2013 - it's all pdfs and Drizzt books (slight exaggeration but still...) They did finally accounce the Lords of Waterdeep expansion, so that's...one upcoming product. I have sort of been assuming they have been trying to keep a lid on everything until the major cons but apparently Origins came and went without a peep. So I figure they are either planning a massive 5th edition rollout at Gencon (with related DC sets or some other miniature product to support 5th edition) or they will be content to get by recycling 1st and 2nd edition D&D products to sell as pdfs until they can finally get 5th edition ready to launch and NOTHING else will happen until then. In either case, the history of WotC is pretty well documented - product lines are planned for a fixed number of items and then they stop. Happened for Gamma World, happened for the adventure system games, and it looks like the same for Dungeon Command. I have a sneaking feeling this is at least partly due to operating and planning products within a larger parent company structure (Hasbro). They just don't have any flexibility to say 'hey, we really believe in this product line and it sold well enough that we think with some extra attention it could really take off'. |
| #44jsanner2Jun 18, 2013 10:17:00 | So there wasn't actually any announcement? Color me shocked. |
| #45KhaysunJun 19, 2013 14:10:35 | Guys! I have some ideas for new factions: Kara Tur (focus on DEX, and includes mostly humans due to a lack of humans in DC), Divine (focus on healing and creatures like angels, paladins, and clerics), Dragon Born (mostly dragon creatures with a focus on STR, INT, and CON), Warforged (no idea on its stats), Demons/Devils faction (don't forget the succubus! and focus on STR, CON, and CHA although I feel STR and CON are too overused in this game), and a faction that includes elves and wild creatures (elven mages, druids, archers, and rangers, with centaurs, fairies, unicorns, and a nymph that can control enemy creatures!) And I also formed a Dungeon Command group if anyone's interested. I'm hoping they might release a human faction next because it's ironic that humans are lacking in DC when they're the most abundant in Dungeons and Dragons universe. |
| #46thechicoJun 28, 2013 21:45:21 | Sadly, a friend of mine mentioned to me today that WotC is not even going to have a booth in the GenCon dealer's room this year. Makes the prospects for any further DC support even more gloomy ![]() |
| #47Darth_VladerJun 29, 2013 1:15:24 | Sorry for the caps: DONT FORGET "DUNGEON COMMAND" IS NOT A COLLECTIBLE GAME. Not like the previous D&D miniature game, MTG or even the living card games. I was worried too, having played D&D miniatures and MTG, then realized that. I love the game and I know its a customizable skirmish miniature/card game, in no way WoC said continous packs were coming. DC is composed by 5 packs, until now, and future packs are welcome, if any. |
| #48thereisnotryJun 29, 2013 10:16:16 | Sorry for the caps: Noted. However, I think more needs to be said about why customizable games NEED further expansions. -->Wrath of Ashardalon and/or Legend of Drizzt are stand-alone games; they don't need further expansions in order to be at their best. -->Dungeon Command is different because it's customizable. It needs ongoing releases if it's going to have good life in the future. Any customizable game develops a "meta" (a limited number of squads/decks that can reliably beat most other squads/decks that come up), and that meta can get old and boring rather quickly. That is why new sets/releases are necessary; without new additions to the meta, the game stagnates and people soon stop playing it. Every customizable game "dies" (ie, stops being produced) at some point; that's always sad. But it's a tragedy when a GREAT customizable game dies after just 5 sets, with so much potential still waiting to be developed. Basically, I want to say this: If WotC never intended to support Dungeon Command, then they never should've made it a customizable game to begin with (because customizable games need support). And if WotC DOES intend to support Dungeon Command, then they need to SAY so! Leaving us in limbo with our unsupported and much-beloved customizable game...that's not just mean, it's also bad business practice because it alienates customers. |
| #49KhaysunJun 29, 2013 11:55:53 | Well, in business, they always say the customers are right. Too bad that can't be said of big money making corporations... Maybe we just need to be more active, and let WotC know what we want. They have many official groups that we can join and comment on. If enough people keep mentioning Dungeon Command, someone'll in WotC will know about it at least right? If we really want something, then we need to do something to get it rather than sit tight and wait for it to fall from the sky yes? I think WotC will release another set evantually, but not anytime soon. |

If enough people keep mentioning Dungeon Command, someone'll in WotC will know about it at least right? I'm not sure that will work; WotC seems quite good at ignoring (or not responding to) their customers. I and several others have written respectful messages asking for a simple statement about the future of DC, but no response. I guess it would help if they received dozens of messages, rather than a few. I think WotC will release another set evantually, but not anytime soon. I hope you're right. But as I've said before (even to a CService Representative), I just want them to TELL US! lol...the futility of getting a 10-word response from a corporation.... |
| #51KhaysunJun 29, 2013 14:18:04 | Alright, I'll organize my the Dungeon Commanders Alliance so that we'll send in a stream of messages to WotC on Dungeon Command. It won't be spam, but it should be constant enough to be noticeable. What do you think? We'll send in the same sentence, so the lazy people will actually do something too. |
| #52Darth_VladerJun 30, 2013 0:46:58 | Im in !!!![]() |
| #53thereisnotryJun 30, 2013 11:47:20 | Yep, I'll do my part too. I'll be looking forward to seeing our "plan of attack" or whatever. |
| #54KhaysunJun 30, 2013 16:44:39 | pssstt... Any of you guys wanna be a moderator to coordinate this? I'm in college studying right now. |
| #55CommanderCrudJul 03, 2013 12:12:43 | I'd like an aberrant faction pack. That would be cool. Are there any fan-made faction cards anywhere? |

| #58clownkingdonJul 14, 2013 12:00:45 | According to my lgs dungeon command is officaly no longer on the WotC ordering list. He says that they have canceled it. This is worse than Paris Hilton. |
| #59thereisnotryJul 14, 2013 16:42:50 | According to my lgs dungeon command is officaly no longer on the WotC ordering list. He says that they have canceled it. "I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has happened." |
| #60UltivilleJul 15, 2013 1:19:39 | I got my product list on the 14th and all the Dungeon Command sets are on it, dunno what your LGS is on about. (I am the TO/Events manager for Pandemonium in Cambridge, we're WPN Advanced.) I had to scroll down a bit more than I remembered, maybe they changed the listing order? |
| #61thereisnotryJul 15, 2013 7:53:59 | Ok, I'm glad to hear that. Thanks! Ya know, it sure would be nice to hear something official from SOMEONE AT WOTC though! |
| #62dhotJul 26, 2013 20:53:44 | It is really sad that WOTC will not take the time to converse with their customers. Say what you will about Pathfinder, but at least that company talks to their customers and listens to what they want from their games. I really enjoy DC as well and hope to see more factions come out, but it would be nice if WOTC sold the rights to another company that actually takes the time to talk to people. |
