I guess this should go in the DnD minis forum but there is zero activity there. Does anyone know if the Beholder Ultimate Tyrant from Legendary Evils is a huge or a large?

Yeah, I'm looking for a standard Beholder for my campaign, but given the Ultimate in the name and the fact it's in a huge set I wasn't sure.

Looks to be huge to me.

www.wizards.com/DnD/Article.aspx?x=dnd/m...

There's one in the Deathknell set that is large.  There's also the Beholder Collection that came out a while back.

Oops my bad. I misread the question and assumed he was asking about the Beholder Collection. My apologies for the mis-info. Embarassed

There are various websites where you can buy singles, and boosters although they tend to be above MSRP.
trollandtoad.com
coolstuffinc.com
miniaturemarket.com

These are the best three. I tend to use coolstuffinc because after spending about 925 dollars there over the past few years on miniatures I get 8 percent off all single minis, but they tend to have a slighty smaller number of singles in stock then trollandtoad or miniaturemarket.

I like Auggies Games for D&D minis.  Good prices, cheap, fast shipping.  He's quick to respond to emails and questions too.

I use MM for Dust Tactics.  They do good work too.  Free shipping over $99.

Also Edward, a few?  That's how it starts buddy.

Agreed. If you want to start using the minis, all you really need are the PCs, probably some sort of grid like any one of the dungeon tiles products, and a few monsters you think might show up soon. (I'm talking about 3-5). There are usually inexpensive versions of any of the PC types (Except Dragonborn, the only dragonborn below 20ish dollars is an Elementalist/ any one who could have a robe and wand , not really a common PC type and it's still 8ish $ -_-, I don't really know why though). Usually that would come out to about 20 or so dollars, and that few minis and tiles can cover a lot of encounters.*

*Of course, if you're me you buy more lol

I bought my ultimate tyrant from cool stuff Inc because it was cheaper than the large beholder from Deathknell. But, that was before the beholder collector set came out.

Isn't the collector's set all  Beholder variants, like a Ghost, Frost etc? I'm  looking for just  a standard beholder.

I believe, the collectors set has the beholder from dangerous delves, a repaint of the eye of flame beholder, a repaint of the unhallowed beholder lich, and the "snowball" beholder that was not previously released. The snowball was a Christmas gift only given to WOTC employees one year.

I didn't buy it though, so correct me if I'm off.

Thanks everyone who replied. I ended up getting a Beholder Eye Tyrant, more of a classic beholder. It's the large-sized one that comes in either Savage Encounters or Dangergous Delves, I forget.

Get in on this silly-good deal right here:
www.kickstarter.com/projects/1513061270/...

Sure, you have to paint them or play with bare plastic, but $100 for what currently stands at nearly TWO HUNDRED minis is a ludicrously good deal, and it only gets better the more people contribute...

Yeah... even though I refuse to paint minis, this has become just too good of a deal to pass up. Seriously guys: click on the link to see what I mean.

And it looks like you can even buy single sets (like the $5 transparent orange and $6 translucent green sets) simply being a $1 backer.

I think you have to get the Vampire level to double up on any of the sets from that - only the case, Orcopalypse, and the paints are available to all levels.  The +$ options (the dragons etc) are also attached to the Vampire level.

But nonetheless, even the cheap deals are good stuff (Ghast level, 36 minis for $15 etc etc).

it's an astounding deal and it's closing soon.
