Hi, have you found an easy way (or perhaps there is an official guideline pdf I can't find) to convert 3.5 stat blocks to 5e? I have some very nice Pathfinder scenarios I'd like to run with 5e ruleset. I've found some suggestions and documents, but they're 1-2years old, perhaps there is something more up to date?

Or, on an off chance, someone has already converted the NPCs found in "Shadows of the Dusk Queen" adventure? I'd really appreciate help in converting the two final bosses!

Yes. But bear in mind that I'm a bit lazy. I just use as much of the Stat block straight up as I can. Hp stay the same, Skills listed are treated as having proficiency. (Lv determines prof. Bonus.) Feats are used as straight up as possible. I dont change items, Etc etc etc.

The only thing I do have to convert are spells - into # of slots & # known. But from there it's just straight out of the 5e book for effects. Or the PF book if the spell doesn't exist in 5e yet.

I'm also lazy concerning the monsters. If it's something that's in the 5e MM, then that's it's stats. If it's something not in the 5e MM? Well, then you'll fight a PF version.... And earn xp according to the 5e cr chart.

I find it easier to do non-conversion conversions - by which I mean use the 5th edition version if there is one, and when there isn't you just use something close with a reflavor or a minor tweak.

Example: Instead of doing a whole big re-build of Pathfinder's burning skeleton stats when running Carrion Crown in 5th edition, I just use 5th edition skeleton stats and tack on a toned-down version of the balor's fire aura (1d6, rather than 3d6) and call it good.

Thanks for suggestions! I'm also lazy, so I'm looking for an easy way of doing this. Naturally, when there is a 5e version I use it, especially since it's more or less the same CR (at least in the adventure). But there are two unique bosses and I don't want to make them too easy or too tough. I'll keeping fiddling with the stats!

converting it is going to break down really fast at epic levels. When stats are 20 and less, hit points convert straight over, but you can easily get a 30+ in 3e which would give you a +10 or more con modifier, and that wouldn't really be accurate. Magic items won't convert right either past level 4 or so. Certainly +1 weapons would convert fine. If your character has metamagic, make them a sorcerer in 5e.  If your characters have weapons above +5 or levels above 20, I would recommend waiting for more supplement material.

5e = 3e/3.5e

+1 = +1-2

+2 = +3-4

+3 = +5 or better

This chart works for both weapons and armor.

After reading MM and DMG for the last two days I've decided to reskin and upgrade 5e monsters. The adventure is for 8th level chars, and the final two bosses are both cr9- a death knight and a spellcaster. The death knight from 5e MM is way too deadly, so I'lluse a githyanki knight upgraded with oathbroken paladin spells (and some kind of nasty aura), for the spellcaster - priestess of lolth, but with spells taken from the wizard list.Spawn shadows if things go too easily...

As you're all saying - step by step conversions are just a waste of time.
