Hi everyone,
First post here so please go easy on me! A group of friends and myself are going to give d&d a go. I have picked up the starter set and have set about reading the rules and the LMOP book. Im going to give DMing a go, so have given the rest of the people a choice of their character.
I was hoping to send them through (via email) their character and that only as I did not want them knowing the other characters in depth before we begin playing, however the pdf download is a single pdf containing all 5 characters and I cant delete any of the pages. I have tried to print them off and scan them, but the quality is quite poor and you can not read parts of the text.
I wondered if anyone had copies of the character sheets separately they could email me, or link me to please. I have tried to use the search function here and have searched via google quite a bit but have been unable to find anything but the single pdf.
Apologies if this has been asked before and if i have missed it.

Nope - we don't have individual sheets for you. However, you can simply rely on laziness. Most people can be counted on to read their own part and ignore the rest.
2 questions - Why are you assigning characters instead of letting them pick their own? Why don't you want them to know each other?
I strongly recommend running a session zero before you start. Make sure you're all on the same page and you'll have more fun!
I would tend to agree with Bawylie that you don't need to worry about people knowing what others are playing or which characters/powers each has. There are adventure-styles which lend themselves to characters being secret until a "big reveal", but the adventure in the Starter Set isn't one of them. In fact, as an introductory adventure, you're all going to get more out of it if each of you can see what other people are doing, and what they're using. In fact, having everyone know your stuff helps you to learn your character's abilities easier. (When we ran Mines., our halfling kept forgetting he had a racial ability allowing him to reroll 1s)
However, that being said, there's a bunch of free PDF editors out there which would allow you to extract/delete pages. I've heard good things about PDF Buddy.
I agree with the others.
Firstly, your players should be working as a team, their characters should be working as a team, and the more they know about each other's capabilities, the better. Otherwise, they will want to spend time in the first session finding out what each other's character can do, rather than using that as a springboard to develop the story.
Secondly, you said that you were letting the players choose their characters, and that's great, but how can they do that intelligently without seeing what the options are?
Okay, that's out of the way.
Now, I can suggest a technical solution. Install the Google Chrome browser. Drag and drop the character sheet pdf directly into Chrome and then print it to pdf file instead of to a physical printer (there's an option to do that in Chrome). But select which pages you want to print each time, You will get what you want, with no loss of quality.
Have fun, but let the other players have fun too. You're all on the same side.

I tend to agree with the previous post when it comes to open information for all regarding characters, but I'll still answer your question. You can split the pages in a PDF with full version of Adobe Acrobat. I'll see if I can do it and send the split ones to you. No promises though.
In Acrobat Reader you can copy a page to the clipboard by going to the 'Edit' menu and then selecting the 'Take a Snapshot' action. Then you draw a box to selet the page (or both pages you want) to copy and then you can paste it into MS paint or Word to send to your friends.
I was also able to paste the selected page I wanted right into a Google Mail (on Chrome) message but it did not work on my Outlook mail. You may want to see what happens for you.
if you look on GOOGLE you can find website that will SPLITPDF. that website can split your PDF into different document.
