After HotDQ -- what's next?

(We've only done the first two chapters -- no spoilers! ) After we're done, I may be taking over as DM (since our current DM would rather play). Since I'm currently a player, I haven't looked at the HotDQ material at all. About what level should we be once we've completed the rest of HotDQ? Are more chapters going to be released in the future? Is there another pre made campaign guide that's appropriate as a follow up to HotDQ, or is it time to just make up our own material? Thanks for the help!

Hoard of the Dragon Queen should leave the party just having reached level 8. Rise of Tiamat, released some time within the next month or so, follows on and should cover levels 8 to 15.
