My group is 3yrs in to a high-level campaign, and they're reaching the penultimate fight in a couple of sessions time.
Their current adventure's reward is a temporary buff which will make each party member super-powerful for a short time. Essentially it artificially levels them up to L30 by providing increases to +hit, +defs, damage resistance and other perks.
The party are already quite combat optimized, so with the temporary buff they will be very powerful. To give you an idea I normally double the standard XP budget to make encounters challenging, and they handle that no problem. My goal for this fight is to make it as ridiculously tough as possible to make the fight feel truly epic.
Gods, demon princes, archdevils, anything goes.
The problem is that the solos in the monster manuals all look too weak to me. I've been thinking of Imix and Ogremoch at the same time, but I'd like a lineup of a few such battles ideally.
I know I could custom-design some monsters, or edit monsters to make them more powerful, but I try to avoid that where possible just to conserve time and try and maintain my DM-life balance :P So does anyone know of a source for really powerful endgame monsters?
Many thanks! |

Gods: http://community.wizards.com/content/forum-topic/3331206
and here
Demon Lords: hmm, I can't find the original thread but they are still in my gallery: http://community.wizards.com/content/media-gallery/599816
and here
Demons: http://community.wizards.com/forum/homebrew-campaigns/threads/3940251
These are much more dangerous than the official 4e monsters as they compensate for the epic level abilities of 4e PCs. They are intended to challenge optimized characters/groups. They do more damage and have better defenses (mostl against conditions and stacking attacks), so use them carefuly. The demon lords are older designs, so they may need some more tweeking.
