#1 elkaholic Feb 08, 2015 10:46:11	Yes, this is another question about the Forgotten Realms setting. Neither I, nor any of the players (all first-timers) have played any FR campaigns. We are wanting to get involved with the world as a whole - the world maps, cities, etc - and since LMofP and the Dragon Queen and Tiamat adventures are in FR we just thought we'd go with FR. What version would you guys recommend in our situation, where we are more interested in the physical geography, cities, politics that go along with them, etc, and less concerned about other world's, realms, ditties, etc.? Thanks in advance.

I use it as one of my primary references as it is really comprehensive and includes lots of maps and interesting adventuring locations. They are packed full of very useful information for DMs to use and is the main reason why I DM in the FR. It helps that 5e is using FR as a default setting. I consider the 3ed FRCS to be the best FR setting book. Lords of Darkness is an excellent source of faction information for all kinds of hostile factions. Faiths and Pantheons is an excellent trove of info for all the deities and followers of every FR deity and makes for great tension and story depth. And the Power of Faerun book just gives tons of insights into how to run various types of plots in general, and with specific FR hooks. If you only get one, get the first one.
