I've been working on this setting with a friend for a while now, and have jsut started a game with it, so I figure though it is not totally complete, it's in a state that is pretty presentable.

Here's the concept: Take D&D, and with as little change as possible, put it in space. So it's scifi, but there are still wizards and elves and swords. Technology is "retro-tech", wherein there are spaceships and laser guns and fully-sapient AI, but computers still run something like DOS. Think Star Wars for how technology works.

Since this is an ongoing project, I have it in a Google doc, which can be viewed by anyone here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1R7q_ZOABIATBD3aukbofH7GKl1tm-Hug063BOnR7ToY

I would love any feedback or suggestions, either on the fluff or the crunch.

If you have $ 7030 you don't know what to do with you could donate it at http://www.extra-life.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=donordrive.team&teamID=15379

And unlock the DMG Fire arms, explosives, and alien technology DMG preview

Typo: I assume you meant Copper dragons are entertainers (you list Bronze twice).

In 3rd edition, there was a 3rd party setting called Dragonstar i liked playing.

In it, laser guns dealt fire damage and blasters dealt electricity damage. I think I like that better than lasers doing radiant damage.

Please tell me that the end of the campaign will be when the party's spaceship crashes into the Barrier Peaks?

Well one question in all Sci-fi is how does faster then light travel work ?

A sugestion would be using the shadow plane near shadow/shadowfell.

Normaly your movement on these planes is simular to the prime, so if you shift to the shadow move 50 and return you will be 50 feet from where you started on the prime.

but it turns out that large parts of the shadowplane get compressed if they are no coresponding shadows on the prime.

This results in large parts of empty inter stellar space being compresses while traveling trough the shadow plane.

meaning that by traveling a relitivly short distance trough this compressed space you can travel huge distances on the prime.

Your setting is pretty sweet! I like your saving throw rules.
