I want to run a campy sci-fi horror themed game at my local store. I want to use the ailen tech and sanity rules that are supposedly in the upcoming DMG. What other material should I look into? Thank you

Figure out what level of sci-fi. Decided if you need new mechanics, or if simply refluffing the classes and equipment will work as is. Nowing the tech level you want, and also, how gritty do you want it to be? You might want to look at some of the low HP recovery rules that people are plastering everywhere. That would make it seem like the PC's are under more pressure, but your amount of fights to rest should be the same, roughly, just dragged out over a longer time period.

The old Ravenloft campaign material has good rules and fluff for horror checks.  Expedition to the Barrier Peaks has examples of describing alien tech in fantasy terms.  Chaosium has a few books of one shot horror stories that can be adapted. Always leave out information, like names of creatures, in horror games. Let the goblins be muttering children gleefully gnawing the ends of meaty human-like bones.

Rules for Taint (I think in DMG2 v3.5) might help create the twisted feeling.

One way to simulate alien tech mechanically is to treat it as a Wand of -insert spell here-.  Flamethrower = Wand of Fireball plus backpack.  Buck Rogers zap gun = Wand of Disintegrate with 1d6 uses left.

To do horror right, you need to be a good storyteller.  Watch the classic (black-and-white movie) Dracula and Frankenstein to get a feel for what to include / omit.

Can you do a credible imitation of Vincent Price's voice?  (Or can you get a recording?)  Will your players read Edgar Allan Poe a few hours before your session, to get into the mood?

I am going to use Dark Outpost from Eldritch Enterprises, a third party company made up of former D&D folks. The module is system agnostic, so I'm actually going to use it in my Star Wars Edge of the Empire campaign.
