| #1Redbeard2Aug 12, 2014 12:23:29 | In the spell table for clerics it has a number for cantrips known. 3 for first level. In the past clerics have not had to search out their new spells like Mages. Have you seen anything that contradicts that for 5e?

Rather than being simple spells that take almost no magic to cast, they are instead minor spells that a character has memorized forever. You can't swap them out, and it's very hard to gain new ones (pretty much only by leveling). As a DM, you could always allow a Cantrip to be prepared as a normal spell, costing a spell slot to use. |
| #3GreyMorganAug 13, 2014 21:45:46 | Think of 5E cantrips as a limited selection of permenant at will powers. Basically 5E operates on the theory that you can't change out the cantrips you know though at each of the stages you can pick up an additional one. |
