I can't find the episode that the cloak of elven kind is in or how the PCs get it. I must have combed the book twice for it... Anyone one else find it? Oh and how does the item work? Advantage on stealth checks?

It's in Rezmir's Sleeping Chamber in Castle Naerytar. Remember, it's been enchanted so as to be indetectable to magic, and don't forget to hit them with the trap when they search for it.

Thanks!!! I really wish ALL the treasure was easier to find while reading. Also anyone else doing adventurers league notice that the PCs could get two longbows plus one but there is only one cert for a longbow?

See, this cloak of elvenkind is so stealthy that even the DM can't find it!

Well.. there is a cert for it in the package they send to game stores O.o.  I'll just find a spot for the PC's to get it, maybe off the assassians in ep. 5.

So, if it's not in the book, what are the stats for the Cloak of Elvenkind?

Overall I'm a bit displeased with the editorial quality of HotDQ.  I've found several spelling / typographical errors and I'm only on Episode 3.  (For example, Page 17 'The large ten at area 2' rather than 'The large tent at area 2'.)  Also, there is a lack of consistancy in formatting.  Some sections have a "Treasure" block seperated out, similar to how it was presented in the starter set, and other areas do not.  Heck, they aren't even consistant on the same page in some cases.

Add in the misspellings on the area map (Silvermoon instead of Silverymoon, etc) and the complete lack of any magical treasure till Episode 6 (when the players should be 5th level.  Compare to the Starter set where by 5th level the players have had access to several staves, magical weapons, a wand and a ring).  It really doesn't seem to be consistant with the quality of the starter set.

The Cloak of Elvenkind from 3rd edition gave +5 to Stealth with the hood drawn up. I would guess the 5e version would be the same.

FWIW the Cloak of Elvinkind in D&D Next Playtest was letting you attempt to hide in any natural environment without having to be obscured whie no creature is nearby.

Cloak of Elvenkind

Uncommon wondrous item

This long cloak is fashioned from gray cloth, expertly crafted, and is half the weight of a normal cloak. An elf who sees a non-elf wearing a cloak of this sort might assume the cloak is stolen. In some cases, however, cloaks of elvenkind are presented as gifts to the elves’ most trusted and valued allies.

Property: While you wear a cloak of elvenkind with the hood up, you can attempt to hide in any natural environment, as long as no creatures are within 20 feet of you. You do not have to be obscured to make the attempt, but you must stay quiet.
