Comedy Adventure Inspiration

Hi.  First off, I feel bad for posting this because I'm sure dozens of people have posted similar in the past.  However, I've used both the search bar in the red line and at the top of the forum, both yield zero results, regardless of what I put in.  (Even results for words like "adventure" or "dungeon" yield nothing).

I'm looking to create a short, comedy type adventure.  I was thinking of making an adventure based on "The Last Will-And-Testiment of Jim DarkMagick I" because my group wouldn't watch it, but now I've checked and at least half of them have.  I'd still like to do something similar, I can incorporate things like a villain not being able to see anybody of a specific race, but I'm running short of other ideas.

If I have a will reading and follow the plot exactly, certain members of the party will know exactly what to expect.

I like the idea of setting it in a house; not too many rooms, not too many encounters, the adventure is likely over in 1 or 2 sessions (though this can be hard to predict with my lot; they can make a half hour of game play last all night).

So...  If anybody knows of a scenario I could borrow from or just has some idea's I could adapt or incorporate, I'd be ever so grateful

What elements of it inspired you? A PC Inheriting a dungeon or other adventurous liability? A half-insane and dangerous family tree drama? I think you have the right idea with someone unable to see members of a certain race; that opens the door to the kind of player-driven, absurd interactions that fuel a comedic game session.

I once had a group that was hired to retieve a wand of great power. During the course of the adventure the wand breaks and releases a wave of chaos into the house.  This caused all kinds of havoc. Animals and paintings talking. Paintings spilling over into the real world. Suits of armor and houehold items animating and attacking. Areas of bizzare physics-reverse gravity, no gravity, reverse impact-the harder you hit the less damage you would do. Reverse attributes-18's turning into 3's etc.... Spells causing strange fx-applause out of nowhere, flowers springing from the casters sleeves. I had servants transform into anthropomorphic animal versions of themselves. Bowls of fruit begging for mercy.

There was more but that's all I can remember off the top of my head.

The kicker to the story was the person that hired them was an avatar of Calandis(my homebrew version of a demigod of chaos and mischief) Calandis was also quite mad and schizophrenic. The person who stole the wand in the first place was one of his other personalities.

Well I have been thinking a lot about this and came to the conclusion that if i plan a short adventure in 1 or 2 locations then the jokes will generally write themselves.  Sorry if I wasted your time.

But here's an idea I might share with you from a table I recently DM'ed.  Basically our current DM got tired of being a DM (and it later turned out he was running out of material) and we made a whole adventure up off the cuff and negotiated our own rules as we went along.

1 of our characters was a teleporter and he had a canister that kept anything in stasis at a constant temperature which he used to store his food.  Another had a large salmon.  At one point he was teleporting the other PCs past an obstacle one at a time and came back to find that the last PC, the one with the salmon, was using it for "Unnatural Purposes".  Later on the teleporter discovered a free floating flame which I was going to attribute to the laws of physics being strained as the portals between realities opened and closed, but I couldn't figure out how to implement it in the story.

Over the week, not even sure we'd play the space story again, it occurred to me that between the characters we had a raw fish... And the means to cook it! So, on finding that the others were eager to resume it and after rolling the appropriate intelligence checks for them to come up with the idea to put the fire in the canister they eventually moved on to find a character, a senior scientist on the station, who had been altered so that his body was an organic mess along the walls, floor and ceiling of a corridor.  He kept saying that he was "soooo huuuungry!"  When the bear performed an intelligence check (of trivial DC) he remembered that the scientist (his boss, as it happens) was partial to barbequed salmon....

"Hmm, moist... What an interesting marinade you used... " and his "body" contracted to clear a path for them to pass.

I had them nearly wetting themselves with laughter ;)
