8x confusion or polymorph or polymorph then sleep....all for one 4th level slot.

I, of course, speak on the dreaded Conjure Woodland Beings spell and how do I combat it when the player summons 8 pixies.

Even CR 10 monsters have fairly weak saves usually and even if they could, with some certainty, withstand 1 or 2 save difficulty 12 confusion spells, they won't withstand 8.  It burns through legendary saves very quickly and is horribly annoying.

I just don't know how to combat this spell.  Numbers don't matter, basically giving the druid a Mass confuse/polymorph/sleep spell...not just one of them, but all of them.  I can kill the invisibile pixies easy enough, especially with area of effect spells, but I don't want to tailor every other fight for the PC's, I want them to be challenged by all-commer encounters too.

Looking for advice here.

Advice part one: Stop trying to "combat it" - let the player spend their spell slot and have something awesome happen... and then move on to the next challenge.

Advice part two: Pixies are puny and have an incredibly low save DC, so while they might be able to do something awesome it is likely to be very short term since those concentration spell effects you are so worried about end when the pixie that cast them dies.

...oh, and depending on what those pixies roll for initiative, they might not even get their turn on account of having died already by the time their turn comes around.

Last, but not least: Require the player to actually speak the commands that their character gives to the pixies, and have the pixies do what it seems they are being asked to - but all the enemies get a shot at hearing the command too. And you should probably have the player keep their commands to things which can actually be said in about 6 seconds.

See DM 101 in my sig. Your job as DM is to put obstacles between the players and their goals, it is not to thwart their abilities. There may be situations wherein 8 pixies isn't much help, but I wouldn't go out of my way to shut down my players' ability to play.

It will depend on intiative and other situational factors, but if their opponents have just one Sleep spell available, a bunch of Pixies could be dealt with in one go - no saving throw, so their magic resistance is negated; 20 ft. radius so invisibility is negated.
