Converting Campaigns

I think we need some kind of guide for converting old campaign guides and modules to 5th Edition. Unfortunately, I'm not anywhere near experienced enough to try. What do you guys suggest? 

 

I will list some of the best considered guidelines here in the OP so newcomers to the thread have a chance to see what we have already figured out.

Some of these docs are conversion guidelines from earlier versions into D&D Next, not 5th; this this file works too

Mike Mearls has said they will put out 5e conversion guides for 1e-4e, although he hasn't said when. My guess is they'll come out along with the DMG in December.
