I'm DMing the starter set and have been trying to come up with things for my group. I decided I'd have them hear a rumor of an old shrine/tomb/fountain etc that has unearthed itself since Hotenow erupted.
So I've got a room 30 x 30 with a dry fountain in the center. Four rooms with barred opennings. Next to each opening is a handprint. When the team follows the riddles near each door I'll have them teleported just inside the opening with no way to get out. At this point I'd have them roll initiative.
The Rogue would be in the long hallway with sneaking and unlocking doors. At the end there is a +1 dagger of returning (automatically returns on throws, trying to get him to try ranged more).
second is the paladin I'm thinking an easy foe that only takes radiant damage. Unsure of his reward or anything else.
Wizards room is a magical ward that causes the gnome wizard to float in midair while staring at 12 levers. They will just have to use mage hand until the correct lever is pulled. maybe a 1hp damage each time a wrong lever is pulled. When they find the right lever it breaks off and becomes a +1 wand.
the last room is the Cleric: this toom will have a large scale assembly three scales on a balance and he'll need to put his mace, a healing potion(or blood if he doesn't have it), and holy water on the correct spots on the scale.
I'm thinking while this all happens every 5 turns I'll describe "A large boom and a flash of lightning surges through the building." all take 1hp dmg. If the players hit 0hp inside their rooms they'll be telported outside the door with 0hp but stable. If they all complete the rooms they'll see a fountain fill with metallic fluid. Dip a weapon in and it becomes a +1 weapon and half the fluid disappears.
edit: I really just want help with riddles or expanding this into something really exciting for each PC. Thanks for all the help and ideas you've all put out there already it's really helped our group.
