#1 blackermetal Nov 17, 2014 9:37:44	So this is going to be my first time DM'ing and I'm temporarily away from my home state with no one to play with in person. I've played some games on roll20 and had a lot of fun, but I can't play over roll20 with some of ,my friends from back home. (A couple of them get online only through their phone.) I've decided to run Hoard of the Dragon Queen over Facebook so I can get in some D&D time with my buddies. Does anyone have any experience with this? Any advice they could provide? Especially regarding encounters. I like to play with a battle mat and I don't see that being a possibility on Facebook. My thought was to post an image of the scene with a grid overlay to use as a reference, Then the players could describe their turn and we would visualize it mentally on the image. Anyway, I'm curious what experiences any of you may have had. Thanks!
#2 iserith Nov 17, 2014 9:39:56	If you're going for a play-by-post game, you might consider doing it by setting up a Roll20 game and doing the posting in the Roll20 forums. You can post screen shots of the maps or whatever from inside the VTT and people can go into the VTT when they like. Mythweavers is also a PBP hosting site.

For tactical maps, I upload mine to Google Drive and create "shape" tokens. As we move from round-to-round in combat I take a screen shot of the map and edit in Paint.
