| #1TovenarJul 28, 2015 8:56:34 | Hey all! I've chosen Dead in Thay as an excellent looking mega dungeon campaign to run at home with my buds. I'm looking for some help in prepping for it. Specifically on 3 fronts: 1. Level 6 characters - magic item suggestions for characters being created at this level for this campaign. Suggestions? 2. This was made with pre-test rules, any insight on rules or effects that will confuse or break my players minds if they don't work as they think. 3. General insight into this campaign, issues or mistakes etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Cheers! |

For magic items, it depends how challenging you wan to make it. Most everything in the dungeon has some type of resistance to non-magical weapons. You could go with 1 uncommon item for each player.
The monsters are pretty much the same from the Monster Manual as they are in the adventure. You might want to tweak some hit points here or there. It seems like they were close to finnishing the offical books when they wrote this. The DC's are pretty spot on. You may want to use the DMG suggested damge for Traps.
Overall it is a great experience, but it is ment for a large group, so you may want to introduce a lot of NPCs to make it feel epic. Some rooms range from medium to extremely deadly. There is a ton of room to role-play, as almost everything in the dungeon has a motive. If you are playing as a stand alone story leave as is. If you are playing as part of on-going campagin then you may want to change out some of "Chosen" to make better campagin connections.
PM if you want to discuss in more detail. |

They're six level 7 characters now and have completed two sections of the dungeon thus far. The one thing I don't really like about it is the dead-end traps/rooms. It makes the going slow as after a few of those they've fallen into the move a square, poke with a 10' pole mentality. |
