I had one of my players get bit by a werewolf and failed his save pretty badly, he is a paladin of vengeance, ive been trying to figure out a way to deal with it before our session next week. I have read a few things about how others have dealt with it, i like the idea of running it in stages, and it getting worse the longer he has it, or having his paladin powers quit working because of the curse, but i dont want to derail my campaign too much to go and find a cure. As it is in the book it doesnt seem like there is too much of a downside to it, i want it to feel like a curse. Do you have any suggestions? How have you dealt with it in the past?

Option A) Let the paladin be a werewolf - don't take any powers away, don't alter any rules from those presented in the book, and don't try to force your interpretation of how it should all go down upon the player and the player's character.

Option B) Remove curse.

Above all else, my advice is to not include possible outcomes - for example, someone becoming afflicted with lycanthropy - before you know how you are going to react to that outcome actually happening.

Short answer, I don't use monster templates on players.

I leave it as a story element or just a thing that happen off-screen for flavor. Strange happenings like odd rumors, vicious attacks, and/or waking up in different locations.
