The wording of Dispel Magic seems fairly specific, in that it ends a spell in effect on the target. As far as I can tell from the magic item descriptions, magic items don't have 'spells in effect on them'. One could argue that maybe a 'sword +1' is really a normal sword with magic weapon cast on it and somehow made permanent, but given that there is no permanency spell in the PHB or rules for magic item creation, we have no idea how magic items actually interact with spells in the new edition. Clearly it would end the effect of light cast on a coin, as that is specifically a spell in effect on an object, but actual magic items, no idea.
It seems quite a nerf to Dispel Magic to have it simply not function against magic items, but on the other hand, given the rarity of magical treasure it seems pretty anti-5e to allow the spell to completely disenchant an item via a simple caster-level check.

But! In the end this is a DM call, as to the origins of magic, magic items, and fiddly-bits |
