I am preparing my game for tomorrow night and noticed that the Drow Elite Warrior has this:

Action:

Shortsword: Melee Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, REACH 10 FT.,  one target. Hit: 7 (1d6+4) piercing damage pluse 10 (3d6) poison damage.

I could not find what gives them the 10 foot reach. Was this a misprint or am i missing something?  Thanks for any help.

I especially like how he has reach with a shortsword.

I would give one of the drow a longsword, be he *doesn't* get reach....because.... just because...

Turn the typo into pure badassery: The shortsword has a retractable quaggoth-hair twine and spring mechanism in the pommel. With the flick of a wrist, it shoots out to pierce an enemy 10 feet away. A free object interaction retracts it again. The drow word for these weapons translates to "cave fisher."

Or a crazy drow fighting style with a weirdly splayed stance. Like a spider or scorpion.

Battlemaster PCs can have 10' reach, so why not Drow ELITE Warriors?

I might use cave fisher knifes myself, make it a dagger item instead of shortsword, if thats allright.

And the mention of drow fighting style could be pretty cool if you play it up, describe them being bent over and splaying their body around in strange writhing movements when they attack.

Hang on. "NO it's a short sword. Short! How can it reach? Damn Rodney and his nonsensical mechanics! All we demand is a game that makes sense and not this Narrativist garbage! I personally will campaign to my death to see this changed!"

When I first read it I thought that it might be some type of fighting style or training, but could not see anything already written to back that up. When the group seen the Drow caravan they wisely retreated. So I still have a chance to add it later on.

It's the new Dretch Ar'mzztrong, Elite Drow warrior! Able to strike with his shortsword from 10' away or rappel down a cliff with one hand!

Fall on the ground and wail until Mother Lolth buys you one from Drows' R' Us today!
