A castle, a mage tower, etc. Potions, staves, armors, etc.
The issue is with players investing a lot of time, money and other resources in items with a limited usefulness to adventurers because the story arc is set... elsewhere. At high levels, it is more likely a DM set sessions in PC castles, mage towers, temples and players set traps, cast protection spells, etc to protect them. Npc have lair actions; there is no rules for PC lair actions...
A few peers posted classes with dwellings features and potion brewing as class features. I mentionned it is npc stuff, but it may be cool for a PC. The issue is that such features are quite dependant on DM will... I don't think we can say: at 13th level, you get; at 5th level you get; it shoud not take the place of combat, proficiencies or utility features. But low magic items availability trigger players need to craft item themselve, without being rich by doing it- they are adventurers, not crafters.
- I think craft such just be a profession to cover cost of living - I think it may be cool to get dwelings and design them as "dungeons"...
Epic boon ? They are designed for 20th level characters...DMG introduced plot points, etc, but I don`t like this option- I think the DM should be able to have final word on it, and plot points look like an obligation.
Any thoughs ?

Fighters could build a stronghold and attract men-at-arms and leaders, and even an elite bodyguard. Clerics built a fortified place of worship and attracted fanatical followers and building the stronghold cost half as much. Thieves attracted others if they built a guildhouse etc. They were really cool incentives to gain levels and gave characters something to plan for and to spend their coins on.
This is not set out the same way in 5e but the DMG gives costs for building a stronghold on p. 128; maintenance costs on p. 127; crafting magic items on pp. 128-130 and hirelings are covered in the PHB p. 159 ('Services'). 5e tends not to 'codify' these kinds of things and leaves it to the DM to construct.
So, at 9th level, fighters may attract men-at-arms after they build a stronghold, like in AD&D but paladins, who didn't attract followers in those rules, can attract loyal soldiers of their Sacred Oath; rangers and druids can attract woodland beings as followers, or elven archers, or whatever the DM and players desire. It takes more time and creativity this way but, at least in my opinion, it's more fun. |

- bonus in your dwelling - free helper to always get maigc items for money, insure availability - or, for those not needing such fluffy, a free feat-like feature like read lips, cipher script, mimicry, etc (the feats without the +1 ability)
free at any level that suit the Dm, same for all players.

To make a ring of regeneration you need to bath the freshly forged ring (made of the finest mithral that was mined from the deepest cave in the tallest mountain) in the blood of a freshly wounded troll (while it is still alive ) then cast regenerate on the ring while it is being soaked in the blood of the troll. |
