i have the monster manual already, and am considering buying this interesting book by a third party publisher entitled Fifth Edition Foes by Necromancer Games.

whike they're are a lot of good monsters in the MM, I occassionally like to throw in something weird or different, and think this book is what may help me.  I know I can make my own monsters as well, but for some reason this just looks interesting to me.

with WOTC silent on the Realms and future publishing, I want to know if you guys think this is a good purchase?  Do you have/use it?

I didnt know WOTC had an open gaming license yet...is there more third party books like this coming down the pike? Did outsourcing to Kobold for Tyranny of Dragons start a trend of unofficial third party books to be released like past editions?

let me know

I have it, I purchased it as a PDF. As a PDF, I think it's worth the cost, especially if you're looking to add monsters of the plant and ooze variety. Since I was running a story set in Zuggtmoy's abyssal layer involving both Zuggtmoy and Juiblex, it was a timely purchase. There are other interesting creatures that will certainly spice up an adventure, several classics from the old, first Edition Fiend Folio. Because the art isn't full color and some of it isn't the best quality, I think purchasing it as a hard cover, it might be slightly over valued but as a PDF, it's an excellent value.

I bought it as a PDF. It's completely worth it. The creatures are fantasically fun, and most of them punch well above their CR--making bounded accuracy even deadlier.

I got it too. It's got some great creatures and a few duds too. The Plants are great in it.

I have it, too. So far, I've only used one monster out of it, but it's always good to have more monsters to choose from. You should get it.
