#1 Novama Jan 23, 2015 8:42:33	One of my players would like to use the Genasi race in our campaign. I don't mind saying yes, however, I now have to create the thing for 5e. Knowing it was in 4e, I don't see it as a problem, but I would like community input on making it.   What it needs:  1. to support sub-species for the various elements (ex: fire, water, storm,...) 2. have a race or races that could be used as a template 3. Other 5e genasi if they have been created already. 4. ability attribute suggestions 5. racial features common to all  6. racial features specific to subspecies   Suggestions on specific pieces or all of the above are welcome. Links to source material/other drafts of the genasi/etc are greatly appreciated also.   the Player is most interested in the storm genasi and pairing it with tempest cleric.
#2 QwertyAzerty Jan 23, 2015 9:40:56	The Genasi should be officially release sometime in March in the Master of Apocalyspe adventure book. It might also be available within the FREE DOWNLOADABLE PDF which will containt the PLAYER option for the new elemental setting for season 2.   Untill then I cannot help you since I have no cloue of what bonuses a Genasis have (I didn't play 4th edition and didn't bought all the expension from 3.5) but you can probably take the dragonborn as a basic genasis framework (normal vision +2 to one stat +1 to an other stat, +resistance to 1 genasis related element and a AoE elemental attack. Basically tell him to take the dragonborn race, but change the fluff, instead of being the descendant of an unbless bastard child of a dragon, you are native from the elemental plane. instead of a fire breath you shoot fire from your hand (but same form, damage, DC then the breath weapon of the dragon born)   earth=bludgeoning air and thunder = lightning water= cold   Then when in March the real Genasis get release you could transfer.   Maybe you can take out the breath weapon and add an similar ability like the earth genasis could gain a lesser version of stoneskin, the air one could use a lesser fly ability, fire using a burning hand/fire breath sound pretty accurate, etc... you can probably look at the abilities from 4e and find a similar spell and replace the breath weapon with that.
