| #1AetherShiftDec 28, 2014 15:20:51 | Here is a project I've been working on for a while. I'm quite proud of it so far, but I imagine it still requires a lot of polishing before it could actually see use. I've tried to stay faithful to the core concepts of the original prestige class found in Complete Mage from v3.x. These traits include accesses to divination spells, nondetection as a permanent ability, and silent spell casting. The two abilities I'm unsure of are Reality Check(Lv. 9) as the rogue receives a similar ability already and Temporal Tweak (Lv.17), which is useful but kinda falls a little far from the core concept. I'm looking forward to any suggestions that would make this a more comprehensive and playable rogue subclass.
Unseen Seer v5.0
Send Senses (Level three) As an action you can create a diminutive sensor within 30 feet of your current location. The sensor must appear within line of sight and remains in place for as long as you concentrate. The sensor can’t be attacked or otherwise interacted with. While concentrating you can see and hear through the sensor as if you were in its space.
At level nine the range of the sensor increases to 60 feet and becomes invisible. As a bonus action you may move the sensor up to 30 feet in any direction so long as it remains within line of sight and within range.
At level thirteen the sensor no longer needs to remain within line of sight. The range of the sensor increases to 120 feet and may be moved up to 40 feet as a bonus action. You can also use an action to shift the sensor into the ethereal plane or back out again.
At level seventeen the range of the sensor increases to 240 feet and may be moved up to 50 feet as a bonus action. Maintaining and directing the sensor no long requires concentration.
Detection Magic (Level three) You gain the ability to cast a small number of divination spells. You can use this ability two times per short rest. At level three you know how to cast Comprehend Languages, Detect Magic and Identify. At level nine you know how to cast Detect Thoughts, Locate Object and See Invisibility. At level thirteen you know how to cast Arcane Eye, Locate Creature and Tongues. At level seventeen you know how to cast Find the Path, Scrying and True Seeing. For the purpose of these spells, your caster level is equal to your rogue level. As you gain levels you may use this ability more often. At level nine you may use Detection Magic three times per short rest. At level thirteen you may use Detection Magic four times per short rest.
Reality Check (Level nine) At level nine your perception of reality becomes more finely tuned. You now have blindsight out to a range of 60 feet.
Stealth Mode (Level thirteen) At level thirteen you can evade another’s attempts at finding you. You are treated as if under a permanent Nondetection spell. Furthermore you may now cast your Detection Magic spells without verbal components.
Temporal Tweak (Level seventeen) At level seventeen your divinatory skills can penetrate and influence the fate of others. By expending one use of your Detection Magic ability you may change the immediate fate of one living creature that you can see. That creature rerolls an attack roll, ability check or saving throw with your choice of advantage or disadvantage. The creature must use the new result. |

| #3Nivek_LoneshadowDec 29, 2014 15:08:35 | "Wrong" may be arguable but It seems that the Players Help Forum is the assumed place for all homebrew classes. |
| #4Sorin_777Dec 29, 2014 16:56:11 | I like the idea. To me, the existence of dark magic skills, like the existence of assassin skills, should be "hidden". This is ne reason why I personally support the "rogue" class replacing the classic "thief".
Here is anther idea for you, shuld you wish to incrporate some ideas or make a 5e friendly version. I found this Pathfinder "Shadow Assassin". The basic idea is the use of shadow manipulation to aid in the stealthy actin f an assassin. I never played Pathfinder or 3.x, so I have to actual game experience with this class, but found the idea very flavorful:
