I'm a big fan of "nonstandard" characters. To that end, I've tried to come up with writeups for some of the monster races as PC-playable.  Here's my first try for E5 Seelie Fae Races:

Fae Race Statistics

Up the airy mountain, Down the rushy glen,
We daren't go a-hunting For fear of little men;
Wee folk, good folk, Trooping all together;
Green jacket, red cap, And grey hawk's feather!”

The fae are many and varied. When most people think of “Fairies” they think of Tinkerbell or perhaps Walt Disney-esque Leprechauns. The reality is often very different. The Seelie Court Fae are generally good, while the Unseelie Court are generally evil.

Sprite

Tiny Fey (height: 5-7 inches) 40 feet flying speed, 10 feet walking speed

STR: -5 (Minimum 1), Dex: +4 (Max 20), +2 to Int, +1 Wis

Languages: Common, Sylvan, Elvish

Proficient in Poison use, Perception and Stealth (Disadvantage to stealth if flying)

All weapons do 1 damage

Suggested racial Flaws: Trickster

Items:

Longsword (Proficiency bonus only to hit (+2 at level 1)) 5 foot reach, 1 point slashing damage.

Starts with a tiny shortbow and a supply of Sprite-crafted Poison that causes the poisoned condition on a failed DC10 Con save, and unconsciousness if the adjusted save result is 5 or less. This poison can be created in any woodland setting, but loses its potency after 24 hours, and is created in insufficient quantities for normal "Human sized" weapons to use effectively. (Prevents stockpiling or sharing with companions.)

Faerie Magic (Sprite)

Heart Sight: Touches a creature and knows its emotional state, and knows its alignment if it fails a DC 10 Charisma save (No save for Celestials, Fiends, and undead)

Invisibilty At will (Standard invisibility, self only)

Pixie

Tiny Fey (height: 7-11 inches) 30 feet flying speed, 10 feet walking speed

STR: -5 (Minimum 1), Dex: +5 (Max 20), +2 to Wis and Cha, -1 CON

Languages: Common, Sylvan, Elvish

Proficient in Perception and Stealth, Knows the Druidcraft Cantrip

Required Flaw: Technical pacifist, never uses weapons (No inspiration for Roleplaying this)

Suggested racial Flaws: Trickster, Shy

Magic Resistance (Advantage on saves VS magic)

Superior Invisibility (Stays invisible until concentration ends)

Faerie Magic (Pixie)

Once per day (material Component: Pixie Dust, no verbal or somatic components) Charisma is the Casting stat. (Only produces dust while flying AND visible.)

level 1: Dancing Lights, Detect good and evil, Detect Thoughts

Level 3: Dispel magic, Entangle, Sleep

Level 5: Confusion, Fly, Phantasmal Force

Level 7: Polymorph

Satyr

Medium Fey

+1 STR, +3 Dex, +1 int, +2 Cha

Proficient in Perception, Performance, and Stealth

Languages: Common, Sylvan, Elvish

Magic Resistance: (Advantage on Saves VS magic)

Suggested Racial Flaws: Hedonistic Reveler

Natural attack: Ram (Meele attack, reach 5 feet, 1 target, 2D4+STR damage)

Item: Starts with Pan Pipes (DC 13 will save for one of the following effects per round on all creatures who hear the pipes played. Each song is learned at the specified levels) – Can craft a replacement set of pipes in 24 hours with access to reeds. Can only be used to magical effect by the Satyr who manufactured them.

Charming Melody: Charmed by the satyr for 1 minute (Learned at level 1)

Frightening Strain: Frightened for 1 minute (Learned at level 3)

Gentle Lullaby: Asleep and Unconscious for 1 minute. (Learned at level 5)

Unseelie Fee Examples include: Boggarts, Redcaps, Sea Hags, and Green Hags. Most Unseelie Fae would be unsuitable as player characters except in an evil campaign.
