I have a player that is working on a Rogue & Cleric mix to make a Sherlock Holmes  type character.  The character has an odd wisdom score and the player asked if there was a feat, other than those listed in the PHB that could be used for a +1 Wisdom bump.  I reviewed the feats in the PHB and found that there was no feat related to the Insight skill.  I did a brainstorm over one evening and came up with two ideas.  The player didn’t find either feat appealing, but I felt they were decent ideas to expand on.  Please let me know if you feel the two feats are balanced and valuable.

1.       Master of Micro-Expressions Reading:  The character has developed the knowledge of physiology and psychology to read micro-expressions in the face and body.  The characters gains:

a.       +1 Wisdom

b.      Advantage on Insight checks

c.       Proficiency in Medicine skill

2.       Master of War:  The character has great insight into battlefield tactics and strategy.  You can provide advice to ensure the right people are in the right position during battle.  Increased strategy comes from knowing your enemy.  The character gains:

a.       +1 Wisdom

b.      Three times per long rest and only once per round you may switch the positions of two allies within 60-ft of each other, with the players permission.

c.       You gain the Know Your Enemy feature, but are limited to gaining knowledge of two of the following per 1 minute of observation:  Weapon reach, 1 Trait (i.e. Firebreath, Reaction trait, other bolded traits on the monster description), 1 Skill score, 1 Save score, and 1 Speed type and score.

I did notice that only one feat provide proficiency in skills.  To me that indicates feats generally should not provide proficiency, but at my table Medicine has a low value.  For the Master of War  I wanted to give battle field tactics but not step on the toes of the feats already provided or make the Battlemaster a second rate line in Fighter.

These feats are ideas and still under review at my table.  It would greatly appreciated if you provide any feedback and find loop holes that would cause the feats to be overpowering or non-valuable.

Thank you.
