My wife and I have just finished Lost Mine of Phandelver, and in our 2 character group, we are now 5th level. We would like to start Horde of the Dragon Queen, but do not want to start over.
Please check my math to make sure I have the XP charts correct for a 2 person group against creatures that start with only 25 xp each.
If I have done my math correct, an easy encounter would have 1-4 of these creatures, a medium encounter would have 5-6, a hard encounter would have 7-10, and a deadly encounter would have 11+.

It looks like you have done all of the math correctly the main thing is you took the xp modifier per encounter into account and applied it to the correct total number of monsters in the encounter.
