Hey all just wondering what everyone did with the black dragon eggs in the dragon hatchery cave? Did you smash them? Did the players want to hatch and raise them? How did everyone handle this if they dident break them?
We made omelettes.
My DM ruled that they were random color (so we got one copper, one red and one black) we brought all 3 egg to the Order of the Gauntlet and told them to take care of the egg, He gave us the week to wait for the egg to hatchso now I have a eldritch knight with a pet wyrmling copper dragon who will grow with me. Being a half orc I won't live long enought to see my dragon age too much (waiting on the draconomicon to get the age brackets) but eventually when I'll have my castle, my dragon will have a nesting room and he will become the guardian of my castle and of my familly line. (and maybe in DnD 6e, with a time lap foward I'll create a new character descendant of this one, who will ride in combat on the back of an adult copper dragon^^
They were evil dragons.... so we smashedy smashedy...
I'm taking one to a masterwork-class taxidermist so I can have one heck of a realistic-looking floor-mounted trophy.
If we have a Wizard in the group, I'll offer to write some homebrewed rules for enhanced-power spell components.
Cool lotta interesting takes on it, I like the random aspect you threw in and think VERY long term benefits 
One group left them since they didn't want to deal with the roper.
The other group took them and sold them to bandits for a set of platemail and a pimped out wagon.

They were originally going to fight the bandits in a series of small encounters before reaching a fort. They learned the bandits were attacking the cultist loot wagons and knew the location of several heading to Baulders Gate.
The rogue was very chatty during the initial encounter and talked them into a parley with the bandit king. When the bandit king suprised the party by expressing interest in the eggs the party figured he’d just attack and take them by force if they didn’t give them up. That’s when the rogue offered to sell them for the stuff and information. To be fair they were pretty outnumbered at that point, so i'd say there was an element of self preservation involved.
