| #1ZSpark85May 12, 2015 20:50:10 | Hello, I will be running HotQ for the first time this weekend. One of my players is going with the Hermit Background which has the discovery feature... this allows him some knowledge/discovery/item or something that will have some assistance or effect with the overall campaign story.
I was thinking something with one of the Dragonmask maybe? maybe he knows the location of one, knows someone is looking for them, or found one himself. What do you guys think? Any other ideas or maybe something one of your players used in the campaign?
Thanks for any thoughts you have!

If they're a Druid, Wizard, or even Warlock, it's flavorful. Magic items make quite a stink in this edition, so letting them have something like a heads up to it is just awesome. |

You know (some of) its history and capabilities.

| #9pukunuiMay 16, 2015 3:09:48 | Question: Once the hermit PC's discovery has been resolved, what then? Do they no longer have a background feature, or should they get a new discovery once the first one is no longer applicable? |
| #10BenignFacistMay 16, 2015 16:45:58 | In our current campaign we have a character with the Hermit background.
Their discovery relates to the origin of the 'humanity', which is comprised of elves, halflings, gnomes, dwarves and orcs - refluffed and flavoured so that each represents a 'human-variant'.

| #11BRJNMay 18, 2015 18:55:08 | I just took over as DM in Ep8. I used the Vampire to give a historical exposition on the Cult of the Dragon. (Because the group did not understand what the Cult was all about.) One statement that I made off-the-cuff, sounds better the longer I think of it:
"Severin is making the Cult like his goddess Tiamat: now it has 5 heads. It is not fully like the goddess Tiamat, though: while her 5 heads are all of 1 mind, the Cult's 5 heads each has a mind of its own."
Why mention this here? Because your Hermit's new mid-campaign Discovery could be the existence of infighting between the Cult leaders.
