#1 TheMightyGoose Mar 25, 2015 14:44:33	Sorry for the stupid question, but when you make, say, a province scale map, it says "each hex is one mile."   Is that one mile across, from corner to opposite corner; one mile across, from flat side to flat side; or one mile each side? And in that same vein, what does "five hexes per inch" mean (ie. each hex is a 5th of an inch, but measured which way)?   thanks
#2 OoftaMeg Mar 25, 2015 16:30:40	The short answer is yes.     The long answer is make a decision and stick with it.  Most people measure flat side to flat side.
#3 AaronOfBarbaria Mar 25, 2015 21:08:02	hex grids are measured flat side to flat side, otherwise the same scale of miniatures would not be usable with square grids and hex grids that are both listed as 1" grids (like the Chessex double-sided battle mats, which whether you are on the hex side or the square side a standard scale medium miniature base fits just inside the lines of 1 grid cell).
