I need some help

So, last week I was kinda forced into DMing because the DM couldnt be there. I was, apparently, good at it. We're a new group and the guy who was supposed to DM is fine with me taking the mantle... for now. I already have a world built and the first session where I'm going to be DMing (quest, world, etc.) is going to be a few simple "Destroy the thing thats attacking a nearby village!" and "Clear the ruins so we might begin our research!" type deals while I prepare for the first long quest chain.

What I need help in is that I want to try something about halfway through where I have everyone role a D100 and select one of the following:

  1. Attempt to better ones standing with a faction/group.
  2. Train over the course of the month-long break.
  3. Practice in a craft of some sort (smithing, leatherworking, magic craft of choice, etc. )
  4. Assist the community in some way.

And the only problem is, I have no idea how I would implement this so that it could work.

Please internet, Help!

Why would you roll a D100 for that? Just make sure you have a bunch of npc's that the players can interact with, and let them choose what they want to do. If they focus on training, or practising a craft, just allow them to do so. Perhaps after the attack, the village elder wants to improve the defenses of the village. Maybe he offers a number of ways in which the players can help: By helping to train new recruits, by making extra weapons, or by building defensive walls. And depending on how good their ideas are, and how well they roleplay, you can reward them with extra points for those things.

In my campaigns I always try to make the players forget that it is a game. I make them believe they are part of a story, not a bunch of dice rolls. So that means lots of talking, and players improvising, and me rewarding good roleplay accordingly. If the players offer to help the village elder with building defenses, ask them how they are going to do that. What will these defenses look like, and how will they be laid out? By all means, provide them with a map of the village, and allow them to plot out exactly how they will help the village. In my experience, players get a lot of enjoyment from working out these fine details.

You could still use your d100 idea. At 1st lv you have every one roll a % score in each of your catigories (or however many apply to a pc). Everytime they lv up then you roll the % again & add it to the existing score. If it matches or exceeds 100? Then the PC has added another point to the towns defence, made stronger faction ties, etc. Any ecess % is recorded & you repeat the process next lv. Of course, to raise one of these % scores a character actually had to DO something related throughout the gaining of the levle. Example: I'm 1stlv. I have a 42% in skill: blacksmith. If I do blacksmithing stuff on my way to lv2? Then when I get tolv2 I roll that %d again. If I don't do anything blacksmith wise? Then it doesn't improve. Same if I were trying to improve my relations with a faction (overall, nor just with individual npcs wich is normal RP).
