So hear it is, the Changling in the unearthed arcana basically gives you an at will polymorph at first lvl with only a few minor restrictions (only medium huminoids) Seems to me that would let you do a few things that are a bit strong for 1st lv - have any of the racial traits at any time - use any phisical weapon (claws, teeth or what not) - use the altered four as a meat sheild for a never-ending pool of hp Is this correct because it seems like that could be vastly more powerful than any other race or am I missing somthing

I don't think their shapeshifting is as powerful as an actual Polymorph spell, otherwise they woundn't have been released. I believe it's worded to function like the "Alter Self" spell, not Polymorph.

It is a polymorph like the Shapechanger monster ability, not like the spell (similar to how the Invisible condition is not the same as the Invisibility spell). It only changes what it says it changes, which does not include special powers.

That needs a better wording then because it says you can polymorph

Remember that the changeling is playtest material. That is, it's in (rough) draft form. The final version - should they ever release one - might be very different.
