| Lemorian Golem.pdfTimmeeNov 12, 2014 7:07:41 | Hey guys,
I've been converting and running an old adventure path called Savage Tide. One of the nasties the party must face is called a Lemorian Golem, forged in the pits of Demogorgon's lair in the Abyss. And it is nasty. So I've converted it to 5e and need to make sure it seems like a balanced challenge 10 critter. I'd love some feedback if you've got the time.

| #4CauldorNov 12, 2014 7:51:56 | I like HeresyDMs recommendation I would possibly change damage to - 1d8+5 bludgeoning +1d8 necrotic,
BUT...
... but based on picture and I would allow for more tentacle attacks (perhaps 3 or even 4 as in the original), and if looking to add a little more juice to creature I might even allow for bonus attack with tail.
Either way, it seems like an awesome potential challange, thanks for posting. |
| (Reply to #4)HeresyDM | Another little bit of flavor that could be added is that if it has two people grappled it can use a bonus action to bash them together addming a bit more bludgeoning damage. Of course all this extra 'flavor' would add to the CR. |

I considered Howl being a recharge, but wasn't sure if it still fit into a Challenge 10 with all the other stuff. I compared other CR 10s as best I could and started with the stone golem as a reference.
I'll split the damage up for the necrotic. But as far as additional attacks, if the golem's tactics were to grab a creature and move away with it, then employ both Constric and a Rotting Tentacle attack on the same creature, it could be very devestating. Note its 40 speed and 20 climb.
Knowing that, would you still add more attacks? Or what do you think about being able to still make Opportunity Attacks with its rotting tentacle (but not be able to grapple) while having two targets grappled? |
| #7Danny_MontannyNov 13, 2014 14:55:38 | It totally should be able to use it's tentacles to attack even if it has 2 creatures grappled. Remover the text after Constrict. Add the 2 limit to the end of Rrotting Tentacles after the escape DC. Make Construct a static 1d8 necrotic to anyone grappled and an extra 2d8+5 bludgeoning if it chooses to squeeze. |
