Looking for Drakes

Hey everyone.

In my group's 4E campaign, one of my players had a tamed rage drake as a mount. Maybe I'm just blind, but I can't seem to find any info on drakes for 5E, so I'm assuming this particular group of creatures didn't make it in to the core rule books (I have PHB, DMG, and MM, no modules). *edit* We transitioned the game from 4E to 5E and I'm trying to let the group keep their exotic mounts.

Does anybody know where I might find some stats for drakes if somebody has created them? I'm not above creating my own, just want to save myself the work if it's already been done.

Thanks all.

Ambush drakes and guard drakes are found in the HotDQ online supplement, a free PDF on the Wizards site. (Google it.)

Correction: It's in the actual HotDQ adventure, not in the online supplement.

the old AD&D Mystara monster manual had a bunch of drakes after the ruby dragon section. I would draw on those for inspiration and use the Dragon queen adventure stats as a basis for 5e conversions.

I took a look at the ambush and guard drake from HotDQ. I've decided to create a whole species of homebrew drakes for my campaign that won't really line up with what I've seen will be similar to the guard drake, only of large size and minus the resistances. Basically, they are simple dragonkind who are used as mounts and companions for certain dragonborn. I can post the first specimen once I'm finished if anyone is interested.

Put this together last night. Might still tweak it but it's the basic idea. I wanted a creature that would be loyal as a mount or companion creature, but is not overpowered.

Lore:

The dragonettes are used primarily by the Dragonborn of Drakora as mounts, companions, and pets. Rather than seeing them as simple beasts, the dragonborn honour their distant kin and treat them with great respect and affection. A Dragonborn who mistreats a dragonette faces the possible threat of exile, a fate worse than death for most of their kind. Dragonettes often form a bond with one (or two) Dragonborn, and the pair become a team. Experienced rider-mount pairs are able to sense each other's motives in combat, allowing the two to move as one and giving the dragonette bonuses when they engage in melee.

Dragonettes are descended from true dragons and, much like Dragonborn, retain the colourings of their ancestry as well as some characteristics. For example, red dragonettes are resistant to fire damage, and are slightly stronger than other species. Green dragonettes can breath underwater, just like their ancestors, and can resist poison damage. Most dragonette species also have limited blindsight and darkvision. Unlike dragons, these creatures are only semi-intelligent. They can understand basic commands in both Draconic and Common, but cannot speak.

Although Dragonettes do have wings, they are unable to master true flight. Their wings are not entirely useless however. After a high leap or from a higher starting point, such as a cliff or rooftop, dragonettes can use their wings to glide, slowing their descent and allowing them to cover greater distances before landing.

Feedback is welcomed.
