Hello, I'm a new DM and I need some help, I plan on running 5th edition and the group wants to play in Greyhawk but I don't know anything about Greyhawk and when trying to find information about it, I found only maps and special classes for characters in that setting but no real help. So I was wondering if someone could help me understand it so that I can actually run a Greyhawk campaign?

Well, you've got some reading to do....

I suggest that you start by typing "Greyhawk campaign setting" into your search bar. Take the 1st link that comes up.

`

Product wise I suggest starting with these 3 books/PDFs: World of Greyhawk boxed set (1983 edition), Greyhawk Adventures hardback book from 1988/89, & The Living Greyhawk Gazzettere.

You can get by with just the map & Google though.... or just picking a spot on the map & making something up. After all that's what Gygax & later writers did. That said, GH is nowhere near as detailed as the FR. Most of its "lore" comes to us via all the adventure modules listed in that 1st article & God knows how many random Dragon magazine articles.

What CCS said.

The 3e D&D Gazetteer is a good, quick introduction to Greyhawk. Really, you could rely on just that with a bit of work. But for me, the original Greyhawk Folio is where it's at. I mostly relied upon that when I was running a recent Greyhawk campaign.

the grewyhamk adventures book was excellent! i loved the write ups for the 'famous' places to explore, sea of dust, land of black ice, sinking isle, etc.

greyhawk is a medieval fantasy setting.

If you are looking for a general overview, I'd start with the namesake city first:

The whole setting is vast and a bit lik trying o learn about Forgotten realms from scratch...better to focus on the region you will be starting with, becuase differenet regions have their own very separate histories.  There is a very general overbview, with links to discussions of major kingdoms and regions, here:

Yes, canonfire is the main Greyhawk wiki site. It's a good place to start.

I'll second the plug for the Living Greyhawk Gazetteer. That thing is pretty useful - and pretty cheap compared to some of the other Greyhawk stuff.
