Hi all

so for my next campaign I will be having my PCs in a refugee camp. It starts off small but will keep growing in size.

I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out resources. Feeding 10 people is easy, but what about when that turns to 100?

How do I manage things like food, weapons, materials needed to run the camp and keep the people alive and well?

Thanks for any help

How will you actually be using this information?

Could this help? It's a  brief history of rations and might give you an idea.

Is this going to be

(1) a Third World style refugee camp - people stay forever and maybe their children too

- or -

(2) the traditional refugee camp - the problem is eventually solved and/or you are sent someplace to get your life going again

?

If the refugees are fleeing from war, they might get some minimal resources from the city or maybe nomadic tribes that frequent the surrounding area. The party may be forced to poach or commit banditry; alternatively, barter or pled for supplies.

I would look at how nomadic tribes support themselves for how to deal with refugees that flee into the wilderness. The refugees might have a few hunters and trappers that might be convinced to help out by train others or come out of retirement. Again there might be the possibility of bartering with nomadic tribes. There will be some issue if they have to travel with all the young children, injured, elderly, etc.

In either case, there might be slavers and the like that try to take advantage of the opportunity. Then turning the tables on them might be a good way to get much-needed supplies since the slavers would have some minimal amount of food for the slaves they intended to transport.
