Monsters Height and Weight

Something i really dont like as a DM is to always homebrew my rules. Why in the Monster Manual there no height and weight for the creatures? I dont want to always reffered to the average size category, i want it writen for me... this broke the game flow for a simple information that was always there in previus editions, should i get my 3.5 or 2nd monsters manual + my 5e to complete the missing informations? I just dont understand why there so much missing informations in 5e.

Personally, I don't use measurements for height and weight in feet, inches, and pounds. I just use a cool descriptor instead. So a character might be "lithe" or "bulky." "lanky," or "squat." A monster could be "terrifyingly massive", "diminutive.", "a mere wisp" or "tall and sturdy as an oak." This mixed in the description is enough in my experience to convey the feeling of how big, small, fat, or thin a creature might be and leaves the numbers out of it.

i think measurements it very important for GM 1st and it help the players imagination of grandeur! like how you justify a half giant size vs a giant size, tall or super tall... this is complicated at some point and everyone knows the foots measurments and they can figure out exactly how big the creature they facing of ! For me it a must, i wish i could get this informations from the book.

You have the rough measurements based on size category.

 

Small is roughly 3-4 feet tall

Medium is roughly 5-6 feet tall

Large is roughly up to 10 feet by 10 feet

etc.

 

Or did 5e do away with these? Haven't ready the MM yet.

Page 6 of the 5e MM has size catagories and gives you the range of weight and height for things in that category. The descriptions of the monsters often suppliments that info, and from there it is a lot of DM guessing.
