But he will want to test them with a quest, to make sure they are worthy. I was wondering if anyone have ideas of good mini quests I could use to test the PCs? |

Sorry, couldn't resist.
Sphinxes in Egyptian culture were often regarded as temple guardians. So perhaps something has been stolen from the Sphinx’s temple, and must be retrieved? |

When the PCs arrive, it IS out of place and the Dragon Turtle is trying to scratch it off completely. Putting it back in place will stop the itching. But the turtle doesn't know that, and intends to remove it entirely. |

Of course, it will ask the party a riddle, and if they solve it correclty it will alow them to enter the temple/pyramid. This is a location that could easily become a death trap (like Tomb of Horrors). You can make it as large or small as you like. To add roleplaying and a twist, perhaps the Sphinx is in pain because it has a spike driven into its paw that chains it in place. The Sphinx could discuss his problem with the party and then ask them to look for a magical hammer and magical tongs inside the tomb that can be used to break the chain and remove the spike. Of course, you can also put anything else you want into the tomb to continue your own campaign.
Just a quick idea.
Good luck. |
