It's located on the coast, sees a lot of money passing through, and will probably have a school of magic. Thing is, I have no clue how much gold to give them for tasks they accomplish. How much money will town officials give them for finding some missing children, for example? I want them to be able to have money to buy some potions and common items after a little quest or two, but not so much that they can just get whatever they want at level 1.
(somewhat related; the Lord of the city is uptight and fines his citizens for things like loitering, public rowdiness, and smelling bad. They should have the funds to pay, but it should make them angry)
Any advice would be greatly appreciated! |

Now divide that share by the number of quests you plan on rewarding. That's how much you are saying you want to give out per quest.
The sum of all fines shouldn't be more than 15% of the total amount of loot.
I wish I could give you better advice, but only you know what you're comfortable with your players buying, so... |
