NPC Races in DMG: What about a Lizardfolk Barbarian?

In addition to the Aasimar and Eladrin (p. 286) in the DMG there is also a chart on page 282 that lists 25 creatures from the monster manual and gives racial modifiers for them if the Dungeon Master wants to adapt a generic NPC to be a different race from the monster manual.  Anyone see any balance issues with allowing PCs to pick from this list?

I have a player that wants to play a lizardfolk barbarian.  The lizardfolk description on the graph says "+3 natural armor bonus to AC".  It would seem that this bonus would be added on top of the Barbarian's Unarmored Defense.  It doesn't seem game-breaking to allow this stacking since a wood elf monk or a stout halfling barbarian would gain multiple ability score bonuses which benefit AC.

Any thoughts?

The armor is of 2 sources, no issue

add this:

The Lizardfolk from the MM

Lizardman Traits

Ability Score Increase-The lizardman’s Strength is raised by 2.

Age-Adulthood by two years and can live up to seventy years.

Average Height-Lizardmen range in height from six to seven feet. The lizardman’s skin and

scale tone adapts and changes colors depending on its surrounding environment.

Average Weight: The average weight for a lizardman is 225 to 275 lbs.

Size-Medium

Speed-Base walking and Swim speed is thirty feet.

Alignment-any

 Languages-Draconic and common.

Vision-Normal

Lizardman Proficiencies: Clubs, spears and shields

Hold Breath-The lizardman can hold its breath underwater for a time of fifteen minutes.

Bite: The bite damage of a lizardman is 1d6

The Lizardman has an Extra innate melee Attack (so, bite/claw/claw for a monk per example)

I would take whats written in the DMG, but drop the - 2 Intelligence. So he gets a +2 Strength  and + 1 Constitution to be inline with the other races and not give them any thurther benefits as its not over powered and not not underpowered. but he would probably want to play a lizardfolk for fluff or rule of cool instead of being OP. So i would say its a good idea. Also give him common as hes a PC.

So Lizardfolk

+ 2 Strength, +1 Constitution

Hold Breath (15 min)

Size: Medium

+ 3 Natural Armour bonus to AC

Speed 30ft, Swim 30ft

Common, Draconic
