| #2NevvurMar 09, 2015 14:34:19 | This is awesome. If I didn't already have a full plate, I'd want to play a sci-fi D&D game with you! |
| #3cowleymenMar 09, 2015 23:48:58 | I actually really wanna hear more about the setting as well! |
| #4NoctaemMar 10, 2015 6:50:00 | I feel like Insulated should be immunity + heal for lower level spells and simply resistance for higher level spells. Heal for half the damage dealt just seems redundant. |
| #5durntaurMar 10, 2015 9:33:55 | The heal for half damage seems a little too powerful; the effect is a swing of full damage from resistance to heal.
Also, calling it "insulated" seems like a misnomer; it suggests protection, whether partially or fully, from the damage, not absorption (not that electricity can be absorbed, just stored). Following the design logic, an insulated object would be able to resist or be immune to lower charged (read as cantrips) effects than higher charged effects; the ability would be less effective against high level spells. Healing would seem like a storing of electricity in a battery (chemical) or capacitor (electrostatic). But that's just me being a pedant.
Another interesting mechanic might be that electric damage is somehow channeled to a motor that powers a flywheel inside the warforged that stores the energy kinetically and can be accessed later to perform some cool feat(s); introduce a point-system that converts damage to points that are expended. Of course, now I'm getting off-topic.
Anyway, I really like your idea.

| (Reply to #5)UmbraCarmen | I agree with the Insulated name and idea change but am unsure how to change this. Don't want to make cantrips such as Shocking Grasp or minor shock items such as Tasers "free" healing. The campaign is my friend Ben's and he is working on the futuristic weaponry using the DMG as a starting point. AI as a modern Warlock patron is cool. Melf's Minute Meteors from the ToEE might be some sort of mini-auto rockets?

One thing to consider: +2 bonus to knowledge checks should be replaced by either half proficiency bonus to knowledge checks, or advantage. Or maybe "never 10 or lower". Little +X bonuses to skills are very rare in this edition. |
| #8MechatarrasqueMar 11, 2015 13:19:13 | I might replace reboot parameters with activate alarm (conjure woodland beings, but with constructs instead of fey). Might as well take advantage of those low CR modrones. |
