This item was given to level 4 party after defeating the assassin Gremmith Mi. Despite their initial victory they chased this bastard down and slew him in the adventure Into the Light. Now he was originally written for his pipe to be a blowgun with poison but the man is a damned wizard i said. Also a portly man who prefers to stay back and cast spells so I made this for him instead. The party pulled it off of his corpse.

Wand of Cinders (Wand, Uncommon)

(Requires attunement by spellcaster)

A functional churchwarden pipe favored by the wizard-assassin Gremmith Mi for the weapon's ability to appear harmless and pass any casual inspection. The pipe spans nearly 9 inches long of a dark red wood and has a reddish tint. It is used by whispering a command word and blowing cross the top of the bowl of a lit bowl. Whether the weapon was made for self defense or assassination is a mystery.

7 Charges and it recharges 1d6+1 charges at dawn of each day. If all charges are consumed roll a 1d20 if the result comes up as a 1 the wand turns to ash and is destroyed. Spells cast from this wand are at (DC 14)
*Burning Hands (1 Charge) - A cone of cinders and hot ash springs forth from the top of the bowl burning and scorching everything in its path.
*Cloud of Cinders (3 Charges) - Functions as stinking cloud, except the cloud is made from cinders and hot ashes burning a victims eyes and lungs and obscuring all vision from within the cone.

I would lower the amount of charges to 5 from 7, regains 1d4+1 charges / long rest.  Keep charge cost per ability the same.

Whats the reasoning behind only 5 charges? All of the wands save for wand of secrets have 7, with a 1d6+1 recharge rate.

Just my advice, I haven't seen a wand that gives burning hands as a 1 charge cost + stinking cloud redux as fire for 3.  Seems it would be best to have it be slightly more limited in use than the average wand for that level of play.  Do whatever

EDIT:  An interesting combo is of course Grease + Stinking Cloud fire mode.  basically death for anything standing there.

At first it was going to be wand of fireballs, but thought it was too powerful for the party. So then i looked at wand of fear. Anyway just trying to gauge the weapon's potency in the hands of the party.
