#1 thanson02 Nov 18, 2014 7:56:10	Got a question for folks. We were playing the Lost Mines adventure out of the Starter Box and during the first encounter with the Goblins, one of my players decided they didn’t want to fight.  Since they were driving the wagon of oxen, they decided to split through the ambush, sort of a runaway car scene idea.  In this, 3 of my players were right in front of the wagon and one lost his Dex save to avoid the wagon.  I was going to look up trample damage for oxen, but I didn’t see oxen in the back of the PH or the MM. 1.  Did I miss the oxen?  If I did, where are they? 2.  When running lost mines, has anyone run into this? 3.  If you have or in a similar situation had a player be trampled down by a large beast, how did you run the damage?
#2 iserith Nov 18, 2014 8:21:32	1. There are no stats for oxen. Consider using the stats for a draft horse, MM page 321. In this case, they do 2d4+4 bludgeoning damage.   2. Yes. The goblins attacked the oxen in this scene and caused it to trample a PC.   3. If the attack is incidental and not deliberate (as one might imagine a stampeding creature is), I present the complication to the player and ask "What do you do?" What they do will determine what kind of saving throw I ask for. If the attack is deliberate, then I'll just use an appropriate stat block and attack roll.   I rewrote this encounter. #3 Noon Nov 18, 2014 15:50:27	I'd consider not giving any bonus to hit, since the oxen aren't really trying to hit the PC. Possibly even disadvantage, as they might try to avoid stepping on 'shakey ground', ie, a PC.
