In The Rise of Tiamat campaign book, chapter 8 Misson to Thay, there comes a point where characters will have a nightmare. In that nightmare they are asked many different questions. I am having a hard time coming up with the questions to ask them. The book says "The character is questioned about why the party came to Thay, about Severins plots, about Rath Modar, about his or her own past and the lives of the other adventurersm about the parts attitude towards Szass Tam, and anything else you would like to ask."

I need some help with questions. Has anyone done this yet? Can someone give me some good ideas on what to ask?

All I have so far are the questions that the book suggests. I need more tho.

Watch any movie where they torture/interrogate someone.

"Tell me why you are here in Thay."

"We told you.  We're here to enlist your help."

"You lie!"  *lightning/some sort of torture, whether mehcanical or magical*  "Why are you here in Thay?"

"We want your help to defeat the Cult of the Dragon ... Severin."

"Yes.  Tell me more of this Severin."

"He's [blah blah blah yakkity smakkty]."

'Hmm... and how do I know you are not working for him?"

"We're not!  We're trying to stop him!"

"Tell me, [name of adventurer], when your father left your mother, how did that make you feel?"

"What?"

*torture*

"How did that make you feel?"

"It's none of your business!"

*torture*

"Fine!  I felt horrible!  I had to become the man of the house when I was 7 years old!  I wasn't prepared for that!"

"And so, are you truly prepared to take on a widespread cult that wants to bring about the end of days?"

"No.  I mean yes!"

*torture*

And so on.

If you’re stuck, why not offload some of the burden on the players? You could totally say “In the nightmare you are asked a deeply personal question about some secret in your past. What is that question and what was that secret?”

Near the end of HotDQ, the PCs can steal some of Rath Modar's personal letters.  Look through that description - even if yours didn't pick anything up (or Fireballed the desk) - and think up some questions from there.

"Who is -Red Wizard's name- ?  What is his connection to Rath Modar?  Where can he be found?"

"How did you come to possess these ... letters?"

Ask about Jos Asbara (if Rath Modar is the master, Jos is the apprentice)

"What is your position on the Thayan Resurrection?"

"What will -your faction- do / offer us to secure this alliance, should we choose to proceed?"

Ask personal questions about an elf PC and/or his opinions, since the Red Wizards' Dream spell can't be used on them.

If they have Rath Modar's letters and offer to turn over the originals, let that count as +1 Right Answer.  (If they offer to turn over copies, give them the benefit of the doubt but no more.  If they offer to make copies to be turned over, the PC gains nothing.)

"What was the book Rath Modar was working from?  Had he made enough progress to complete the ritual described therein?"

If several characters confirm information without their players conferring, and you know the information given is true, let that count as +1 Right Answer.  If they all lie coordinatedly, count as nothing.  If they all lie and contradict each other, count as -1 Wrong Answer.

"Do you know if Rath Modar is alive or dead?"

"Do you know the penalty for perjury?  Or treason?"
